This homepage is devoted to the admiration of our newborn daughter, Maika Hanna Edberg. After 55 hours of harsh pain did she finally, nine days later than scheduled, decide to leave her mother's stomach the 30th of August 2001, 17.15. With 3,572 kilograms weight and 51centimeters length she was slightly bigger than the average Japanese baby but not as big as the doctors had predicted.

Essential in selecting a name was that it should be easy to use in both countries of her parents- Japan and Sweden. Written with Chinese Characters（舞夏）her name means "summer dance". Born in the very last days of the summer, her parents want Maika to live her life completely, full of energy. Just like a a dance celebrating this most beautiful and vivacious season, we hope that Maika will be able to live her life as a celebration of life itself and, most importantly, of her creator..

In Swedish, we believe, the name is easy to pronounce and sounds almost Swedish, still hinting about a different, hopefully exciting , background. Further contributing to the appeal of the name is its resemblance with the Kiswahili word for angel- malaika. To be fair, some credits should also be given to grandmother Kanako Koizumi , who was the one to first suggest Maika as a name for her granddaughter.
