Six weeks till the wedding

"I don't care if I have to take Jeff with me, but I am going to Chyna's wedding!" shouted Lita, hands on hips. "And I'm going whether you're coming with me or not!"

"There's no need to yell!" Hunter held his hands up. "Fine, you wanna go, you can go."

"Like I need your permission." She muttered. He ignored her. "I'd like to go, I want to wish her well. I really do. But it'll just be weird. Especially considering who she's marrying. I mean, it'll be a crucial part of the service and I'll be waiting for someone to hit him over the head with a chair."

A thought occurred to Lita and she started giggling. "Do you think they'll walk down the aisle to their theme music?"

"That was evil doll." Hunter tried to look stern and ended up laughing. "You never know, especially with Chyna's sense of humour."

"Then wouldn't it be worth going, just to see?" She asked slyly. He rolled his eyes and sighed. "I don't know..."

"Helmsley, if your saying that you don't know whether or not your coming to my wedding, then I'm gonna be forced to hurt you." A cheerful female voice joined in.

Hunter and Lita spun around. "Chy!"

"Don't you ever knock?" added Hunter slightly irritably as Lita flew across the room and hugged her friend. Chyna chuckled. "What's the point? I shared a locker room with Red long before you ever did... and I shared a locker room with you before I shared one with Red. Therefore, neither of you have anything I haven't seen before."

Hunter looked at Lita. "Chyna logic in no way has any relation to conventional logic." He looked back at Chyna. "Just start knocking okay?"

"Yeah, whatever." She made herself comfortable on the couch. "So are you two coming or what?"

"I am." Lita stated clearly. "But he doesn't know if he is or isn't."

"It's just gonna be weird!" Hunter defended himself, shooting a look at Chyna. She nodded. "If it's gonna weird you out too much, then don't come. But it would mean a lot to me if you were there. We've got a lot of history and we've gotten past a lot of bullshit to get where we are now. Don't worry, I won't hold it against you."

"No, you'll just use it against me till the day I die." He sighed, sitting in the armchair and pulling Lita onto his lap. "I'll think about it okay? Who else is going?"

"God only knows." Chyna threw her hands in the air and settled onto the couch. "We've invited about 50 people. 11 have said they will definitely be coming and six of those are the wedding party. I'm glad this is only a small thing."

"So who are the other five?" asked Lita curiously. The bride to be didn't even give it a moments thought. "Farooq, Bradshaw and Jackie are coming. Farooq said he was coming to help celebrate, Jackie said she was coming for the free beer and Bradshaw said he was coming just to see Jackie in a dress. And Shane said Satan would be handing out ice skates before he missed it."

"Shane's going?" Hunter's head snapped up. "Shane McMahon?"

"Yes our beloved Shane-O. He's bringing Jordana." Chyna raised an eyebrow. "Did you know she's pregnant?"

"How would I know something like that?" Hunter asked shaking his head. "I haven't spoken to Shane in at least nine months, so he could have a kid by now and I wouldn't know."

"Yeah, you could have a nephew by now." A thought crossed Chyna's mind. "Hey Lita? You do realise -"

"That legally I'm involved with a married man?" Lita interrupted. "Believe me, I know this. Jeff tells me every chance he gets. Helms tells me whenever he thinks he can get away with it. Matt knows that if he mentions it, I'll get Jackie to castrate him. Who else has been invited to the wedding?"

"Billy and Chucky, Jesse - that should be an interesting reunion - Steve and Debra, this completely insane bunch of girls I work with, um, we kinda invited Eddie, just to see what kinda reaction we get... " Chyna bit her lip and thought for a minute. "Oh yeah, Shawn."

"Which one?" Hunter frowned. "The Kid or the Heartbreak Kid?"

"Heartbreak Kid. You think I want the Kid anywhere near me after what he said?" Chyna's eyes flashed angrily. He held his hands up. "I'm sorry. It slipped my mind. Is Shawn coming?"

"I don't know." She decided to tell part of the truth. "He's got a new girlfriend and he's a little worried about how various people might react to her."

"Shawn's worried about something like that?" Lita had only spent limited time with Shawn Michaels, but had heard enough stories to get a fair idea of what he was like. Hunter raised an eyebrow. "He must be serious about her."

"He's in love." Chyna replied simply. Hunter's jaw dropped. "She must be one hell of a woman. I never thought I'd see the day."

"You and me both Helmsley." She stood up. "You've got one week. I gotta go, We're actually heading over to spend a few days with Shawn and his woman."

"Oh a few days relaxing in San Antonio sounds like just what the doctor ordered." said Lita wistfully. She'd hurt her wrist in a match a few days ago and had been told to stay out of the ring for several weeks. The inactivity was already making her restless and slightly irritable.

"You'd love Shawn's place doll." Hunter kissed Lita's cheek. She glared at him in mock anger. "Don't tease or I'm going to hide in Chyna's make-up case. God knows it's big enough."

"Don't piss off the person who has control over who you'll be sitting with at her wedding." Chyna grinned at them. "I better get gone. I'll give you a call."

"Bye Chyna." They chorused as she swept out of the room.

"Chyna! Taker!" Shawn opened the door with a strained smile. "Come on in. Sorry bout the screaming, Char's just woken up and Stephanie can't get her to settle down. It's like she's had a night mare or something."

"She could have." The Undertaker shrugged. "Could have dreamed that her step daddy found out about her. That'd give me nightmares."

"Shut up." Chyna elbowed him affectionately as Stephanie came in, trying to comfort her daughter. "Shhhh baby. Hey guys."

"Give her to me." Shawn took Charita off Stephanie and rocked her in his arms as he walked slowly around the room. "It's okay sweetie. Mommy's here and I'm here and nothing's gonna hurt you."

Within minutes, Charita had quieted down and was looking around the room with wide eyes. Chyna shook his head. "That's a fucking skill."

"She'll generally calm down for me." Shawn grinned proudly. Taker laughed. "She's a real little Daddy's girl huh?"

Stephanie made a choking noise in the back of her throat and a hasty exit from the room. Chyna shot an angry glare at her fiancée and followed her out of the room. Taker dropped into an armchair. "Sorry man. Didn't think."

"It's okay." Shawn kept walking around the room, the constant movement kept Charita settled. "It's just a really touchy subject at the moment. Steph's terrified of running into Hunter and of people finding out who Charita's father is. Then there's the fact that I have no concrete role in Char's life. That's really eating Stephanie up inside."

"You gonna raise her as your own?" Taker asked curiously. Shawn sighed. "I'd like to. I think of her as my own. I mean, even looking at her, you can guess who fathered her. But I feel that fatherhood isn't just conceiving a child with someone, it's also raising the child. I love Char like my own and I want to help Stephanie raise her. But legally, I have no claim."

Taker watched as Shawn's face softened as he looked down at the baby in his arms. He had nothing but admiration for his friend at that moment, willing to take on a child that wasn't his. They both looked up as Stephanie and Chyna came back into the room. Shawn moved immediately to Steph's side. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah." She took a deep breath and smiled at him.

"I'm sorry Steph." Taker apologised. "I didn't think."

"It's not your fault." Steph replied with a smile. "It's just something I'm feeling really tender about right now. I mean, can you imagine what Hunter will do when he finds out who Charita's father is?"

"He'll go nuts." Chyna and Shawn said in unison. They looked at each other and Shawn motioned for Chyna to continue. "We know him probably better than anyone else. Better than he knows himself sometimes. He will be furious when he finds out Charita's paternity. He will lose it, when he finds out about you and Shawn."

"And you're certain you want us at the wedding?" Shawn asked with a small laugh. Taker rolled his eyes. "Of course! We wouldn't have invited you otherwise. Shawn is Chy's best friend and despite all the shit that's happened over the years, the four of us have become fairly close friends over the past year. It wouldn't be right if you two weren't there."

"So are you coming or what?" Chyna pleaded. "It would really mean a lot to me if you were there. I'll talk to Hunter if you want, explain that you'll be there and that I don't want any shit from him."

"Will he have his girlfriend with him?" Stephanie asked curiously, then added quickly "It's not that I care, it's that I think we're less likely to see a hissy fit if she's there."

"She'll be there." Chyna and Taker spoke in unison. Chyna grinned. "She said she would be there with or without Helmsley."

Something occured to Shawn. "He's not going to be there is he?"

"No." Chyna understood instantly. "He will not be there. There will be some others that you probably aren't too keen on seeing again, but he will not be there."

"Good." Stephanie felt weak with relief. "In that case, you can consider me among your wedding guests."
