Tainted Love

For the Falln one, cause she's the only one of my friends who actually likes the Steph/Jericho idea.

She ran over her mental checklist one last time. Sleeping husband. Check. Note to say that she was having trouble sleeping and had gone for a walk. Check. Cell phone in case aforementioned sleeping husband woke and tried to contact her. Check. Spare cabin key. Check.

She checked her watch one last time as she slipped the hooded cloak over her head. 12:56am. Four more minutes. A smile curved Stephanie's lips as she cursed Vince and thanked him at the same time. It had been his idea for everyone to take part in this two week physical fitness program. On one hand, it meant that everyone was exhausted at the end of the day, meaning that everyone slept heavily. But the cabins were in a large circle, which meant that anyone could look out the window and see her crossing the circle twoards her lovers cabin. And if they were caught, then all hell would break loose.

12:59am. She crossed to the door and watched the seconds tick by. 5,4,3,2,1. She quickly opened the door, having learnt the second night that openeing slowly cause it to emit a series of noises that woke not only Hunter, but the Outlaws, who were in the next cabin.

Looking around quickly, she ran to cabin 20, her footsteps the only noise in the darkness. As she inserted the key into the lock, the door swung open, causing her to over balance and fall into the dark cabin. A pair of strong arms grasped her around the waist from behind. "Easy baby. Imagine explaining the potential injuries to the other half."

Stephanie relaxed in Chris's arms. Leaning against him, she reached up and clasped her arms around his neck as one of his hands splayed across her stomach.

"I love the way you feel in my arms. I love the way our bodies fit together perfectly." he whispered huskily, bending down to kiss Stephanie's neck. "So do you think our plan is working?"

"It's true, it's true." giggled Steph, breaking out of his embrace and sitting on the bed. Chris joined her, laying next to her on his side, one hand supporting his head, while the other rubbed her back. "I think I've done well don't you? Hunter is jealous to the point of being unable to speak, which I find quite enjoyable -"

"Sometimes it's got me speechless with jealousy too honey." Chris replied. Stephanie looked at him in surprise. He grinned and shrugged. "What can I say? I get jealous easily."

"You have no need to be jealous."

"Why is that?"

"Cause I love you."

"I love you too baby." They smiled at each other, then Stephanie flopped back onto the matteress, so she and Chris were laying next to each other. Stephanie reached up and carressed Chris's face. "Your so good to me. Nobody would put up with this kind of shit."

"It's worth it." Chris reassured her. "I've been waiting for almost a year now, but you know what? It doesn't matter to me."

Stephanie drew Jericho's face down to hers and kissed him, slowly at first and then with more passion. Jericho kissed her back and trailed a hand down her side, then back up under her shirt, so his hand was resting against her ribcage.

Stephanie lightly ran her hands over his chest, eliciting a quiet moan from the blonde. He bent down again, nuzzling at her neck, before raising both arms over her head, and sliding her thin top off.

"No bra baby?" he rasped, eyes on her breasts. Stephanie shook her head. "Hunter wouldn't even consider sleep unless I was already in bed. Couldn't wear a bra under my nightgown now, could I?"

"So you got dressed again once he fell asleep?"

"Yes." Stephanie gasped as one of Jericho's hands cupped her bare breast. He smirked at her. "Next time, wear it for me. I wanna see what you sleep in."

Stephanie didn't get a chance to answer for as soon as the sentance was finished, Jericho was kissing her again. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her body against his.

With a loud grunt, Jericho rolled on top of of Stephanie, pinning her to the bed and sliding a leg between both of hers. Steph glared at him. "Don't be a tease."

"Sorry baby." He grinned, making no effort to stop.

"I mean it - don't be such a fucking tease." Stephanie's voice was ice cold. Chris rolled off her. "Your really not up for this are you?"

"I'm sorry." her voice was little more than a whisper.

"Of course you are. Your always sorry about something, but nothing ever changes." Chris stood up and ran a hand through his hair. "Maybe you should just go back to your husband."

It was a low comment and he knew it. Stephanie's eyes filled with tears. "Cheap shot. Is that what you want me to do?"

"Well it's want you want isn't it?" he countered bitterly "I mean you obviously don't want me."

"I do want you!" she cried. "I need you more than you could ever imagine. Right now, I need you to understand. I need you to hold me, make me feel loved, I need you to stop me from feeling like a possession."

They stared at each other for a long moment. Stephanie broke eye contact first, reaching for her shirt. "I guess I should go."

Chris remained silent. It wasn't until Stephanie was at the door that he spoke. "If you leave now, don't ever come back."

She spun around. "So I'm supposed to put up with Hunter's bullshit and not react once in a while? I don't have the energy to deal with this much longer. When he starts in on me, I shut him out, I retreat into a world where nothing he says matters, where he doesn't even fucking exist! It can be great, but it's an emotionless void. Things are so bad right now that the only time I feel alive is when I'm with you. You make me feel like a whole new person."

"Damnit Chris I love you. I know this hasn't been easy, but your not the only one who's doing it rough. I know that when we argue, and I storm out, I can always come back and we can work it out. What we have is the one thing that helps me get through the day and now that's being taken away from me as well!"

She broke down then, not tears of anger, but tears of desparation and hopelessness. Chris crossed the room in 3 steps and wrapped his arms around her. "Shush baby, I'm sorry. I've been in a shit of a mood today and I have no right to take it out on you."

Stephanie continued to cry. He picked her up and carried her back to the bed. "We're going to go to bed now and you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna help you through this. You know why? Cause I love you."

Chris put her to bed, then climbed in next to her. She clung to him, sobbing quietly and he held her close, whispering soothing words and stroking her hair and back. Eventually she fell asleep, at which point Chris relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief.

Both of them had quick and passionate tempers, which was one of the factors that made them so good together. There'd been many scenes like this before and each time, Chris worried it would be the last. Despite all the shit that went with it, he really did love Steph and when things got really bad, she was always there for him.

Slowly, he fell asleep, his hold on Stephanie loosening slightly, one leg thrown over both of hers in a protective gesture. Tomorrow, there would be name calling and insults, but at the moment they were together and at peace and that was enough for now.
