"Come on Chris, what did she want to talk to you about?" Integra pleaded. Edge put an arm around her. "Leave the poor guy alone. It is none of your business. Besides, I think you have more important stuff to worry about."

"Yeah yeah yeah. Nearly everything is arranged. There's only two things preventing it." Integra rested her head on Edge's shoulder. "But enough about us. What the hell did I interrupt?"

"Teg, just give up. We talked."

"Oh, so that's what you call it nowadays?" She grinned impishly. Chris glared at her. "Shut up."

"Oh fine!" Integra shut up. But not for long, a second later asking, "You guys didn't just talk did you?"

"No, we didn't just talk." He admitted, rolling his eyes at Edge, who grinned. Integra hit the table with her hand. "Well? Details!"

"We argued. Dredged up some stuff that had been pent up for a few years."

"Oh." Integra looked disappointed. Edge laughed. "Told you."

Chris was about to reply, but was suddenly yanked out of his seat by a hand on his collar. He looked up in surprise into the furious face of Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

"Will you let go of me?" Chris struggled to free himself. Hunter smiled at Integra and Edge, who were both looking stunned. "I need to talk to this little asshole at once. You don't mind do you?"

Without waiting for an answer, Hunter dragged Chris out of the room and into the hall, where he roughly pushed Chris into the wall. Chris put a hand to his throat. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

"I should ask you that same question." Hunter snarled. "I spent most of last night comforting Stephanie. What the hell did you say to her?"

"That's none of your goddamned business." snapped Chris. "Stephanie wanted to discuss something from *our* past. I told her my thoughts on the matter."

"I know what she wanted to talk to you about."

"You WHAT?" Chris looked stunned. Hunter smirked. "She's my wife Jericho. There's very few, if any, secrets between us."

Chris lunged at Hunter, who side stepped quickly. Chris shot past him and landed on the floor. Hunter stood in front of him, hands on his hips. To his horror, Chris noticed that he was holding the sledgehammer. "What are you planning to do with that?"

"Hopefully nothing." Hunter glanced at the sledgehammer. "I honestly hope it won't come to that."

He reached down, grabbed Jericho by the front of the shirt and dragged him to his feet. "I'm not saying that what Stephanie did was right. She's never said that she did the right thing by you. But she is trying to make amends."

"It's over Helmsley." Chris said, wrenching himself away. "It's been over for a long time. What happened, happened. It's not something I can easily forgive.. or forget."

"You selfish little brat! Do you think it was easy for her? For some reason, she wanted to stay with your sorry ass. Vince blackmailed her into it. Stephanie didn't leave because she wanted to, she left because for her there was no other choice!"

"What the hell do you know about it? Do you have any idea what it was like to come home to an empty flat? To find all of her stuff gone? To have no explanations except a letter that raised more questions than it answered? To know that for some reason the person you thought you'd be spending the rest of your life with doesn't even want to be part of your life anymore?"

"Holy shit." Hunter looked at him in disbelief. "You think you’re the only person in the world who's been through that? Christ, you think that you're the only person on the roster who's been through that? Fuck, you're not even the only person standing in this hall who's been through it."

Chris looked at him in surprise. He hadn't heard anything from Chyna about the break up with Hunter and had thought that if anyone had done the dumping it had been Hunter, not Chyna. Hunter looked at him with a bitter smile. "Oh yeah, she walked out on me. Now she's got some guy who's apparently making her happier than I ever did."

The irony of the situation wasn't lost on Chris. The rumours were that he was with Chyna.. who's ex was now married to Stephanie. It was a twisted situation to say the least.

"Look, I know your suffering Jericho. Big fucking deal. Get over it."

"You really don't fucking get it do you? It's not that - HEY!" He shouted as Hunter shoved him. "I don't get it? Oh jesus, you really don't have a clue do you?"

"It seems not." Chris said coldly. Hunter shook his head in disgust. "You thought you were soul mates? Hell, you could be, although with that attitude, it's not likely. What you feel doesn't matter. It never mattered. The only thing of importance is how you make Stephanie feel. Especially now."

"Why so much more now?" Chris asked sarcastically. Hunter smiled and raised the sledgehammer. "Because now, if you hurt Stephanie, then I will hurt you."

"You're crazy."

"No. Just looking out for my wife." Hunter smiled humourlessly. "So.. will you be going to an appointment with Stephanie tomorrow? Or not?"
