Dec 1999 (before Armageddon)
"So have you done all your Santas shopping for my niece and nephew?" Edge asked, picking up Lucilla and grinning at her. "Got a kiss for Uncie Edge?"
"That's a no." Christain laughed as his daughter head butted her uncle. "We decided that the kids were to young to appreciate Santa so he won't be giving them anything for Christmas this year."
"Can we still give them stuff?" Integra asked. Vanessa nodded. "Yeah, cause I got Lucilla's present on sale and I can't return it."
"That's fine." nodded Lydia. "Although you guys didn't have to get them anything."
"As if I'm not gonna get my god-daughter something!" exclaimed Vanessa. Edge threw a cushion at Lydia. "Damnit woman, it's my niece and nephew! Of course I'm gonna buy them something!"
Lydia stood up, with the cushion behind her back, slowly walked around to where Edge was sitting and belted him over the head with it. Laughing, he put Lucilla on the floor and leapt over the back of the armchair, chasing a screaming Lydia around the room with a pillow. With a grin, Christain tripped his older brother on his way past. Edge landed with a thud, as Integra threw a stuffed toy at Christain. Vanessa jumped onto the bed and started to chant "Fight! Fight! Fight!" as Edge and Christain started play wrestling on the floor. Lydia jumped up and down on the couch. "Yeah! Get him baby!"
"Hey!" Integra stood up, hands on her hips. "Leave my man alone!"
"What're you gonna do about it?" challenged Lydia. Integra grinned. "This!"
She rushed forwards and grabbed Lydia's ankles, pulling them forwards so that Lydia fell onto her back onto the couch. A new voice entered the commotion. "I can hear you lot down the hall."
"TEST!" Shrieked Vanessa, jumping off the bed and hugging him tightly. Edge and Christain untangled themselves and stood up, looking sheepish. Test hugged Vanessa back. "Hey girl. Still going home for Christmas?"
"Hell yes." Vanessa sat on Lydia's legs. "What about you sweetie?"
"No idea. I might go back, I might not. I'm not in a festive mood this year." he replied, smiling sadly at Vanessa before turning to the others. "What about you four? Going back to Toronto?"
"Teg and I are spending Christmas Day with Mom, then going to see her folks." Edge grinned.
"Lyd and I will be in Toronto for the Christmas break." explained Christain. "Then Lydia's staying on for a while so that Mom can spend some time with her grandchildren."
"That's sweet." nodded Test as Vanessa patted his shoulder comfortingly. Christain looked confused. "But after Vince kicks Helmsley's ass, won't you and Steph do something together to celebrate?"
"Probably not." He replied quietly. Integra reached up and slapped Christain upside the head. "Dumbass."
"Test is having a few valid trust issues as far as Stephanie is concerned." explained Vanessa. Valid was only the side of things that Test knew about. Being part of the regular security team, Vanessa knew about a few facts that Test didn't.
She knew about the fact Stephanie had made a few late night visits to Hunter's room lately. The fact that Billy, Jesse & X-Pac were banned from Hunter's room during these 'meetings'. The fact that the 'meetings' usually consisted of fighting and often ended in Stephanie storming from the room in tears.
And for Vanessa, the most interesting fact of all was that Stephanie had recently visited Chris Jericho's locker room during a show. She was in there for a while and when Stephanie had left, she'd been crying hysterically. Chris had been in a rage for several hours after the show, reaching his hotel room and breaking several pieces of furniture.
Vanessa felt she had more than enough reason to suspect that Stephanie was up to something. And she didn't like it one bit.

Hunter and Stephanie stared at each other across the table. "I'm not telling you where I'm getting this information from Stephanie."
"Why not? It's my daughter and my life. I think that gives me the right to know." Stephanie sounded deadly calm, but her heart was pounding. Someone knew about her daughter. Someone knew that Christina - Daisy - hadn't willingly been given up for adoption. Someone knew who she was. Someone knew what was happening in her life right now. The two words echoed around her head... Someone knew.
"I agree you have the right to know what's going on in your daughter's life and why she was given up for adoption without your knowledge or consent." Hunter nodded. "Steph, I can help you find this out! I can help you try and get custody of your daughter."
"I just have to stay married to you right?" she replied sarcastically. He sighed. "It wouldn't be as horrible as it sounds. All I'd ask is for your own screen support and your off screen help in a few matters - title shots, stuff like that."
"And you'll help me get Christina back into my life." Stephanie said slowly. "Why are you doing this?"
"I have my reasons." Hunter answered darkly. Exasperated he continued. "All you have to do is make sure I win at Armageddon. We'll stay married for two years - or how ever long it takes to get custody of your kid - then divorce due to irreconcilable differences. Are you in?"
Stephanie looked at him coldly for a minute and smiled. "You'll find out at Armageddon."
