15th November 1999

"Babe, are you sure your ok?" Test asked worriedly. "You seem a bit distracted lately."

"I'm fine." Stephanie lied, pasting a smile onto her face. "Just a bit.. you know."

"Not having second thoughts are you?" He teased. She laughed and shook her head. "No it's not that."

Test looked at her deeply for a minute. "When are you going to let me in?"

"What?" Stephanie was confused. He sighed. "There's something you've locked away, deep inside. I know it's none of my business, but Steph, we're getting married. I need to know that you trust me completely. I also need to know.." He hesitated and avoided eye contact. "I need to know that I can trust you completely."

"What are you getting at?" Stephanie asked suspiciously. Test stood up and looked out the window. "Chris Jericho."

"What about him?" She feigned casualness. He exhaled sharply. "I know you two have a history... I've seen the way he looks at you... and I don't know if you realise it, but you look at him the same way. I just need to know that it *is* over between you two."

"It is." Stephanie reassured him. "What you need to under stand it... Chris was... my first love. Back then and even sometimes now, I believe he's my soulmate. I was more involved with Chris - emotionally and spiritually - than I think I ever will be with anyone. I'm not looking to replace him... I couldn't. But I've moved on."

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yes." was the simple answer. "I am."

They smiled at each other and Stephanie couldn't help but wonder if she was doing the right thing, marrying a man she didn't love. She felt that she could grow to love him, maybe even fall in love with him one day, but now? She cared for him, more than a friend, but less than a lover. Deep down, she knew her heart belonged to Chris and it always would.

Glancing at her watch, Steph saw it was nearly time to meet Hunter, find out what he wanted her to do in return for information on Christina. She had doubts on whether he had more information and no idea on how he knew what he already did. However, this was a chance she was willing to take. No task was too difficult for for information on her daughter.

Hastily she said goodbye, noticing the suspicion on her fiancee's face. Well he'd just have to get over this stupid insecurity and quickly. Jealousy was something fairly new to her - the only time she'd ever experienced it before was before she'd gotten together with Chris. Once she knew for sure he was hers, she trusted him completely and vice versa. This was the first time she'd ever been on recieving end and she didn't like it one little bit.

"You're late." Hunter remarked as Stephanie slid into the the booth opposite him. She shrugged in apology. "Wedding preparations."

"Of course." he smiled dryly. "Since you called this meeting I suppose you'd like to start?"

"You know about my daughter." It was a statement, not a question." Helmsley nodded. "Yes. I do."

Stephanie waited for more, but it seemed Hunter was not going to make this easy on her. "How?"

"I have my ways." He replied evenly. "Does Jericho know she was given up for adoption?"

"I told him what I was told - that she died at birth due to a hole in the lung." Stephanie replied painfully. Hunter looked at her in surprise. No denial that Jericho was the father? Then the truth hit him - Stephanie hadn't given up her child voluntarily. She'd been told the girl had died and probably had spent every day since grieving for her lost baby. He changed tracks quickly. "You didn't knowingly give your child up for adoption?"

"No." Her voice was raw. "There were complications during the birth... I lost conciousness, when I came round I was told my little girl had died."

"It never occured to you to question it?"

"Of course it didn’t!" She snapped at him. "I saw her body - someone else's body. I held it, I dressed it and then I buried it. I trusted the doctors."

"Do you want the truth about what happened that night?" Hunter poured himself a glass of water. "Do you want more information about your daughter and who her parents are now?"

"Of course I do!"

A smile crossed Hunter's face. "I can give you that information. But I need you to do something for me first."

"How can I be certain you'll keep your word?" Stephanie challenged. Hunter shrugged. "How can I be certain you'll keep yours?"

"Because I have nothing to lose." She tossed her hair back over her shoulder. He grinned. "Then I want you to listen carefully. I want you to convince that idiot fiancee of yours -"

"If you have to bring Andrew into it, then forget the name calling." She warned. Hunter stifled a smirk. "Whatever princess. This is what I need you to do."

Stephanie listened in disbelief as Helmsley outlined the plan.

"Will you get him to do it?" Hunter asked. "You'll have the full back up of DX and I've got someone who'll do it if he won't."

Stephanie looked at him coldly. What he was suggesting was terrible and disgusting. He expected her to convince Andrew to run over Steve Austin? No chance in hell. Still, for information on Christina she'd run over Shane if she thought she could get away with it.

"I'll do it."
