Summerslam 1999

"Are you two ready for this?"

"Yeah."

"Are you gonna be the first in that ring and the last to leave?"

"Yeah!"

"Are you going to become number one contenders for the Tag Team Titles?"

"Yeah!"

"Are you gonna completely destroy Mattles, Jeffles and Gangers?"

"Yeah!"

"Good!" shouted Integra. Lydia nodded. "Now get those fine asses out there and make us proud!"

Edge and Christain left, full of quiet determination. Integra turned to Lydia "Mattles, Jeffles and Gangers?"

"They knew who I was talking about." Lydia shrugged. "While I think of it, Chyna said she'd look after the twins so we could cheer our men on in battle. Interested?"

"I certainly am." nodded Integra. "I can do an article on it for the magazine or the webpage."

"I'm gonna make a sign." announced Lydia. She was contemplating ideas when Stephanie came in looking pale. "I think I'm gonna be sick."

"Still no luck?" Integra asked sympathetically. Stephanie paced. "He won't talk to me! I've tried everything, but he just keeps telling me to go away and leave him alone! I can't let it end like this, there's something important he needs to know."

"Stephanie, sit down." Lydia guided Stephanie over to an armchair and gave her a mug of coffee. "Don't worry, it's decaf. I really don't think you need to be any more strung out tonight."

The other two women stared at her in shock. "Why have you got decaf?"

"Believe me ladies, when you have two infants who wake up at all hours of the night and never at the same time, you don't need caffeine." Lydia explained. They continued to look at her in shock. She sighed. "Ok, Christain made me do it. I'm not gonna go into the terms and conditions, but I've gotta drink decaf for six months. What he doesn't know is that as soon as the 6 months is up, I'm becoming an expresso addict."

"That sounds more realistic." sighed Stephanie. Integra hugged her. "It'll be ok."

"No, it won't! There's something I have to tell him... I doubt it'll lower his opinion of me, but let's face, it couldn't get any lower than it already is -"

"Yeah it could." Lydia interrupted her. "Fact: Chris is still in love with you. Theory: He hates himself for still feeling like that. Fact: You hurt him very deeply when you left. Fact: He's still bitter. Theory... no make that fact: You two are soul mates. Theory: He'll find out what you need to tell him when the time is right."

"What do we think, what do we know, what can we prove." murmured Stephanie. She thought for a second and nodded. "Got it. Now I heard a rumour that Chyna is willing to baby sit while you two watch your men from audience."

"That would be correct."

"Well you better get out there. Henry and Jarrett just screwed over D-Lo. I'll take the kids over."

"The stuff's in the bags, Lucilla will need feeding when she wakes up, her bottle is the one with the Teletubbies's on it, Jason will probably need changing soon and if he gets grumpy, try and get him to sleep." Lydia instructed as Integra pulled her out of the room. "Come on Lyd!"

Stephanie laughed and put Jason into the stroller. He grinned up at her mischievously, a grin that definitely came from his father's side of the family. As they did often did lately, especially when she was with the twins, her thoughts turned to Christina. If she'd lived, she'd have been two and half by now. Vince would be proudly showing her off backstage and Christina would be charming everyone she met. It would mean some civility with Chris too. No matter what he thought of her, he wasn't the kind of guy to turn his back on his child.

She delivered the twins safely into Chyna's care. The number 1 contender for the World Title did not look impressed. "How the hell do you expect me to prepare for a match against Austin and babysit at the same time?"

"I don't." Chyna replied quietly, looking embarrassed. "You prepare, I babysit."

"Will you be able to handle them both on your own?" Stephanie asked. Hunter snorted. "Of course she will! She's the 9th Wonder of the World! She can do anything she wants!"

"I'm sorry about that." Chyna said quietly as Hunter left the room. Steph smiled at her. "Don't worry about it. He has a big match to prepare for."

"Yeah but so does Test and he's not snapping at everyone is he? I'd be surprised if he was, it's not his style."

Test! Stephanie realised she had forgotten all about her boyfriends big match. Excusing herself, she hurried towards his locker room, passing Jackie and Vanessa, who now worked occasionally as a security guard. They called Stephanie over and offered their best wishes and support for the night.

"We're behind you 100%." Vanessa told Stephanie. "And if for any reason you doubt his abilities to win, I can kneecap Shane with a steel baseball bat before the match."
