LAP 6: Kimi Raikonnen destroys Jean Alesi's final race by causing a massive crash between the two of them. LAP 25: Irvine blames a fuel pump for his DNF. LAP 45: Enge retires in the pits with faulty brakes. LAP 47: An oil leak ends de la Rosa's day. LAP 48: Fisichella is out with a bum gearbox after racing in seventh and eighth place for most of the day. · Villeneuve spins on lap 50 after passing Trulli, and loses two positions as M.Schumacher wins it. Hakkinen ends up in 4th. Race #16: USGP, Indianapolis Motor Speedway - Sept. 30th, 2001 LAP 3: After having his front wing taken off by Nick Heidfeld and Jarno Trulli on the second lap, Kimi Raikonnen's transmission dies. LAP 37: Ralf spins it at the Mickey Mouse corners. LAP 38: Ralf's Williams teammate Juan Pablo Montoya loses his hydraulics after a fine top-6 run. LAP 38: Dual disaster for Minardi: Alonso, Transmission; Yoong, Gearbox. LAP 45: Jos Verstappen's engine breaks down. LAP 46: Villeneuve gets smashed up due to a bad pass by delaRosa. LAP 72: Rubens Barrichello, who was leading the race in the early parts, retires after running five laps with a smoky engine. Race #15: Italian GP, Monza - Sept. 16th, 2001 · Czech driver Tomas Enge makes his first F1 start, replacing Burti. LAP 4 : Button collides with Trulli, and lasts three more laps until his engine overcooks. Button says he was "very sorry." LAP 7: David Coulthard's engine dies on him as well. LAP 15 : Eddie Irvine faces sudden power loss and parked his car. LAP 19: Hakkinen, who had announced his racing hiatus for 2002 on the Monza weekend, had more bad luck with a bum drivetrain. · lap 18: Fisichella's traction control misbehaves for the rest of the race. LAP 26: Jos Verstappen's fuel pump fells him from a hard-earned 8th place. Jos had started in 19th and passed 11 cars - five from attrition. LAP 29: Frentzen's transmission goes, DNF. LAP 45: Malaysian Alex Yoong, debuting in the Minardi, spins off. LAP 47: Final DNF of the day: Bernoldi's engine goes. Race #14: Belgian GP, Spa - Sept. 2nd, 2001 · Both Minardi and Arrows drivers miss 107% rule, but start anyway. · Heinz Harald Frentzen, now in a Prost, qualifies fourth but stalls the car on the gridstart. Alonso and the polesitter, Montoya, do the same. LAP "2": Alonso breaks down. LAP "5": Luciano Burti crashes hard into the Stavelot left-hand corner, going headon after the fastest part of the track. After a ten-minute wait under a red flag, Burti was taken away and the race was officially reset. Irvine, who was touched by Burti before the Prost flew into the barrier, would retire from the race also. LAP 0: Raikonnen parked his car and ran back to the pits. Both Heidfeld and delaRosa went out of the race as well because they collided. LAP 2: Montoya blows his engine, much like many previous times. LAP 17: Button crashes at the Bus Stop chicane due to suspension failure. Marques out. LAP 33: Trulli is out with a smoking engine. He would climb out of the car and bash his head against a guardrail in frustration. Race #13: Hungarian GP, Hungaroring- August 19th, 2001 · Jean Alesi joins Jordan, Zonta does not race. LAP 01: Eddie Irvine flings the Cat into the kitty litter, DNF. LAP 09: Luciano Burti spins off with blistered tires. Ditto. LAP 13: Bernoldi locks it up and goes off into the gravel permanently. LAP 37: Button goes off. Two laps later, Fernando Alonso does the same. LAP 54, 58: Trulli and Panis experience technical problems, respectively. LAP 65: Heinz Harald Frentzen, in his new Prost, overcooks it and goes spinning off. LAP 69: Tarso Marques, in the PS01/B chassis, has technical troubles. LAP 70: Fisichella has his Renault engine seize up and end his day. Race #12: German GP, Hockenheim- July 19th, 2001 · Heinz-Harald Frentzen fired from Jordan team. Zonta replaced him. - Right before race: Both Minardi cars leak fuel and have to go to spares. 1ST GRIDSTART: M Schumacher has his gearbox lose three sequential gears causing an extremely slow start. Luciano Burti didn't see him, crashed right into the back of him, and got launched off to the left side. Burti landed on top of Bernoldi's car and mass chaos ensued. The race was redflagged and scrapped, making the 2nd gridstart the official start of the race. MS ran to get into his spare car and the other drivers involved get spares too. 2ND GRIDSTART: Pedro de la Rosa hits the back of Heidfeld, wrecking both. Race was redflagged due to debris. LAP 7: Ricardo Zonta, sideswiped by Verstappen in a pass attempt, retired without a front wing. LAP 16: Kimi Raikonnen loses his drive shaft, DNF. LAP 18: Irvine is faced with a terminal fuel pressure problem, bows out of GP. LAP 23: M Schumacher again faces car problems and grinds to a halt. Freakishly coincidental, Luciano Burti has his race end as well on this lap, due to other circumstances. LAP 27: Gearbox takes Marques out of the race. LAP 34: Trulli, who had spun off earlier to avoid a collision with Panis on a passing attempt, is out with hyraulic pump failure. Race #11: British GP, Silverstone- July 15th, 2001 · Tarso Marques misses 107% mark, does not qualify GRIDSTART: Trulli and Coulthard knock into each other are both are out. Panis tried to avoid it and spun off, ending his day. DC would spin off in a seperate incident the following lap, finishing his race. LAP 7: Burti's engine seizes and billows smoke. Caused an oil slick on the track. LAP 39: Ralf Schumacher pulls off of the track from a top-4 finish. LAP 43: Fernando Alonso lost a front wheel and drove around to the pits in a tri-wheeled Minardi. Final laps of the race: Jos Verstappen drove around the final laps with an oil pressure problem. Race #10: French GP, Magny Cours LAP 0: Mika Hakkinen's gearbox fails him, leaving him dead on the grid for the formation lap. The car did not start at all. LAP 6: Eddie Irvine's engine dies. Enrique Bernoldi's engine would do the same thing on LAP 18. LAP 52: Montoya's engine goes sour, knocking him off the top 6. LAP 55: Irvine has the same thing happen to him. 4 laps to go: Button, plauged with fuel pressure troubles during the race, slides off the track backwards due to an engine seizure. Race #9: European GP, Nurburgring (Germany) Coming soon! Race #8: Canadian GP, Montreal Early in the race: Irvine and Heidfeld clout into each other. Later: Juan Montoya came off the fourth turn too wide and bounced off the guardrails into a spin. Rubens Barrichello, who was tailing him, took evasive action and ran into a wall. Both drivers DNF. -------- More to come soon! Race #7: Monaco GP, Monte Carlo · Jordan's and Arrows' nose-mounted wings immediately are banned by FIA. Warmup Lap: Polesitter Coulthard stalls it and must start at the back. Lap 1: "Quick" Nick Heidfeld plops the car into the wall. Lap 2: One lap after recording the fastest lap, Juan Pablo Montoya puts his Williams into the barriers along the swimming pool section. Lap 13: Panis puts the car into the garage and is done. Lap 15: Hakkinen says his car felt dangerous, so he parked it. Lap 20: delaRosa spins off the track and leaves the car there. Lap 24: Burti's Gearbox fails him. Lap 30: Trulli falls from fifth place with a bum engine. Lap 44: Fisichella slid into the barriers at the first turn, DNF. Lap 50: HHF hits... some stuff. Lap 56: Both Alonso and Marques go out of the race. For the latter, it was a broken gearbox. Lap 58: Ralf Schumacher is the final DNF, parking his car in the pits. Race #6: Austrian GP Coming soon! Race #5: Spanish GP · Coulthard breaks on the warmup lap, and must start last. LAP 06: HH Frentzen and Pedro dela Rosa collide, sending Frentzen into the air. It was Pedro's fault. LAP 08: Bernoldi's car dies, and he puts it off to the side. LAP 20: Ralf spins from fourth place, due to locking it up in the corner. LAP 50: Irvine's car smokes up and he parks it, Barrichello spins off. FINAL LAP: The infamous upset victory for Michael Schumacher... Mika Hakkinen, leading the race by 40 seconds, has his engine die on him, slowing the McLaren to an eventual halt. A shameful result. Race #4: San Marino GP, Imola (Italy), April 15th, 2001 LAP 05: Fernando Alonso hits the kerbing wrong and goes flying to the tire barrier. His day is done. LAP 06: Jos Verstappen puts it off the track with exhaust troubles. LAP 17: Kimi Raikonnen out, unknown why. LAP 24: Michael Schumacher punctures his left front tire and after two laps and a pitstop, puts it in the garage because of damage to the brakes, he said. LAPS 28-31: Fisichella, Villeneuve, and Mazzacane all fall out; smoking engines. Villeneuve's engine problem is blamed on the gearbox. LAP 42: Irvine's engine quits. LAP 50: While teammate Ralf Schumacher would take the lead from the start and go on to win, Juan Montoya was felled with a bad clutch. The lap before, JPM had a bad stop which he had to be push-started. LAP 54 of 62: Marques' Minardi engine dies. Race #3: Brazilian GP, Interlagos; April 1st, 2001 · Rubens Barrichello doesn't start the warmup lap, runs to get into the t-car. GRIDSTART: Mika Hakkinen's car does not move due to launch problems. LAP 03: As JPM got by MS, their teammates were involved in something else. Barrichello clouted Ralf's rear coming into a corner; Rubens was out. Ralf would return to the racetrack 6 laps later and even have the fastest lap. On LAP 60, Ralf would spin off the track and have his miserable race end. · Irvine gets a stop/go penalty for mechanics at his car on the warmup lap. LAP 16: Bernoldi pits but is pushed to the garage. On LAP 31, Burti did the same thing. Button would have a problem similar to this, but he went on. LAP 28: Fernando Alonso retires with electronics worries (throttle meter). LAP 39: A bad move by the lapped Verstappen sends him rear-ending the leader, Juan Montoya. JPM's race is obliterated. LAP 56: Gaston Mazzacane in the Prost, who had just passed Villeneuve for tenth, has his engine burst into flames. LAP 57: Raikonnen's punctured tire ends his day with a major spin. LAP 65: Frentzen retires his Jordan, Coulthard wins the race six laps later. Race #2: Malaysian GP, Sepang · GRIDSTART: Barrichello and Ralf Schumacher collide, causing a mess at the first turn. Both drivers went into their spare cars. Early in the race: Synchronized offroading? Both Ferrari drivers went off the track in the wet at the same spot and nearly the same fashion but both managed to get back onto the track. They would finish 1-2 in the end. LAP 0: Peter Sauber blames the drivetrain on why Raikonnen went out. LAP 6: Olivier Panis' engine becomes engulfed in flames. LAP 8: Heavy rain puts standing water on the track. Heidfeld, Montoya, Bernoldi, and Villeneuve all spun off. Irvine was hit by an Arrows as well. LAP 30: A fuel pressure problem takes Fisichella out. He also started from the back of the grid after forgetting his gridspot. Race #1: Australian GP, Melbourne -- March 4th, 2001 · In Practice: Michael Schumacher flips his car in a sideways 360 on the gravel. GRIDSTART: Montoya goes on an offroad excursion but comes back on track. Welcome to Formula 1, Juan... LAP 3: Barrichello clips Trulli and sends the latter spinning to a DNF. Barrichello drives on. Rookie Enrique Bernoldi also crashed, a DNF. LAP 5: Tragedy struck when Villeneuve and Ralf Schumacher collided. The end result was a marshall killed and seven spectators injured. Needless to say, both drivers were out of the race after this.
