Profile on: Medusa (Six Flags Great Adventure)

HISTORY

Medusa opened at Six Flags Great Adventure on April 2, 1999. It was built by Bolliger & Mabillard and this was their first floorless coaster, a coaster where you sit in seats with your feet dangling with no track above and no floor below.

This ride is located at the "Frontier Adventures" section of the park. It is themed to a snake-headed monster from Greek Mythology. The legend says that when the monster, Medusa, was defeated by Perseus, it was sent to an isolated frontier gold mine and that is where it is waiting to strike again.

Boarding of Medusa will be an amazing experience. The lime green and purple ride features seven inversions, a helix, and two speed bumps. The order of inversions are: A 360 degree loop, a diving loop, a camelback, two cobra rolls, and two interlocking corkscrews. Medusa has the 2nd most inversions in the world tied with six other coasters, including Kumba which resembles Medusa.

One ride on Medusa and you`ll be screaming for more. We can`t wait to see what amazing coaster B&M will come up with next.
