80s Music
Updated:

'80s music was one of the most important things in my lifetime. I can remember listening to Huey Lewis and the News, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, and many others growing up. I guess my favorite '80s artists are as follows:

  1. Huey Lewis and the News
  2. The Outfield
  3. Howard Jones
  4. Bryan Adams
  5. Chicago
  6. Duran Duran
  7. Madonna
  8. Rick Springfield
  9. Van Halen
  10. Hall and Oates.
There are LOTS of groups out there that are excellent. Click on the CD to go to more artist information and links.

'80s TV

Another important thing to me was the TV. I watched LOTS of TV shows in the '80s, and I still love watching the classics in syndication. My favorite show was Family Ties, and I wanted to be like Alex P. Keaton up until about 10 years ago. Sadly, I have since realized I am a bit more liberal than Alex, and that's okay with me. Other shows that I enjoyed in the 80s included Three's Company, Cheers, Bosom Buddies, Perfect Strangers and many more. Click on the TV to be transported to more '80s TV shows!

'80s Wrestling

One of my favorite things about TV was the wrestling that was on. It wasn't nearly as smutty as it is today, but it had many of the same stars. My dad, my brothers, and I would sit at my dad's farm Saturday and Sunday mornings and watch wrastling on the TV. Some of our favorites were Baron von Raschke (the Clawmaster), Nick Bockwinkle, Hulk Hogan (before he was Hollywood), Bobby "The Weasel" Heenan, Curt Hennig, Randy Savage, and Jake "The Snake" Roberts. It was fun pretending it was real, even if just for a few moments, and cheering really loudly when our favorites were winning, and booing really loudly when our favorites were losing. '80s Movies

'80s movies were another important thing to me, but to a much lesser extent. Sadly, we didn't get a VCR until 1987, and then it was a Beta-max. Bah! I also didn't live anywhere close to a movie theatre, so I didn't see a lot of movies. Nontheless, I will do my best to tell you about the movies I have seen, and would be happy to put up any of YOUR reviews on my page. I did see a few movies, like Real Genius, Top Gun, Legal Eagles, Revenge of the Nerds, Goonies, Gremlins, The Outsiders and a few others in the '80s, and there are others that I have seen in the '90s, so I will do my best to present these to you. '80s Toys

'80s toys were things that I didn't have a whole lot of growing up. Sadly, I spent most of my time playing video games and getting smart in grade school. I did manage to play with a few Air Jammer/Road Rammers, some Rubik's Cubes, a Magic 8 Ball or two, but I never did have a Cabbage Patch Kid. '80s Video Games

As I said, '80s video games were fun for me too! I loved nothing more than to play Pac-Man, Burgertime, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Donkey Kong, Mr. Do, Pooyan, and many many others. My parents owned a bar from 1985-1987 and I was able to master many video games, and also become a sort of "Pinball Wizard." There are lots of great pages out there where you can play some classic games without downloading any emulators or any ROMs. Click on the Pac Man icon above to be transported to the Awesome '80s Video Games!

Are you "Stuck in the '80s?"

A favorite for many is my "Ways to know if you're stuck in the '80s!" I've carried this over from each time I have re-done the site, and it never ceases to amaze me how many people can say "Yeah, I remember that!" I'm always willing to add more memories to this page, so feel free to drop me a line and let me know about your favorite memories. I add ALL submissions I get, and I'll even credit you if you give me your name! Click on the Stuck in the '80s graphic to find out if you truly are "Stuck in the '80s!"

 ' 80s Sports

Probably the most important thing in my life when I was growing up was SPORTS! I grew up rooting for the Chicago Cubs (I played little league for a team called the Cubs), the Milwaukee Brewers (root root root for the home team) the San Francisco 49ers, the North Carolina Tar Heels, and the Boston Celtics.Oh yeah, and I *hated* the Chicago Bears, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Chicago White Sox. There were so many great teams of the '80s. Click on he "Fridge" to go my "Great '80s Sports Teams" page!

'80s Love Song

80s Love Song takes all the great  '80s songs and puts them into one essay. I have no idea where I got this from, but people seem to love it!

'80s Message Board

So you wanna talk about the '80s? Feel free to do so at my 1980s message board. "Say Anything" is my motto, but if you're rude, I'll remove ya! It's as simple as that. But if you want to talk about the '80s, I welcome any comments, good or bad. If you have anything you want added to my page, post it. Whatever it is, if it's about the '80s, go nuts!
