Holy christ I'm still brushing off the cobwebs! This page is long overdue for a rennovation but in the meantime you should be aware that Powderfinger blitzed the 2001 Aria awards this week. Winning 6 out of 8 nominations Powderfinger are certainly climbing the musical ladder of success. I have added some 2001 Aria pics to the gig pics section and aim to get this site into gear in preparation for the New Suburban Fables tour which kickstarts in Newcastle on October 16th.
It seems it was only yesterday when Bernard came down with laryngitis and cancelled shows all over the place so everyone join me in sending the health fairies his way for the next few weeks!
TUESDAY 1ST MAY 2001
Ok so it has been awhile but all good things come to those who wait and stuff so I have good things. Firstly a review kindly donated by Tom Lee of the U.K. so check that out in the *new* reviews section. I also ask anyone willing to submit any reviews you feel like submitting!
The second load of wonderful news is that Powderfinger will be headlining a festival in Byron Bay this July (what an amazing month that is!) called "Splendour in the Grass". Tickets are onsale May 7th and are available at Ticketek and most usual outlets (check your latest street mag).
Lastly the band have a refilmed filmclip version of "My Happiness" floating around in the states which should get here quicksmart, closely following their recent return to Australia.

SUNDAY 4TH MARCH 2001
Powderfinger are back in Australia for a short fortnight before they fly back across to America to do a run of promo/media slots shortly after their 'Odyssey Number 5' release over there. This begins a huge tour of The UK and Europe before settling back into Australia to organise a mammoth Australian feast of a tour! Tour dates for the upcoming tour Overseas are up in the tourdates section. Brilliant news in addition to this is that our very own Powderfinger will be performing on the David Letterman show on the 26th of March. This is absolutely exciting news and we wish them all the most fun (and pray for the other guests that night!).
On the home front things are relatively the same. Powderfinger seem to be the band on everyone's lips at the moment which can only be good news.
TUESDAY 6TH FEBRUARY 2001
Ok it has just been announced by Universal and confirmed by a few sources that Powderfinger after their winning run of Big Day Out's will be joining the UK's 'Coldplay' for a run of dates in North America beginning as soon as February 9th in Seattle right up until February 20th in Toronto. Check the tour dates section for the list of dates as on the Coldplay official site.
Also great news in the past few weeks has been Powderfinger's results in JJJ's Hottest 100! It is the second year in a row that Powderfinger has claimed No. 1 song. This years results:

It seems at the moment the sky is the limit for Powderfinger!

Ok I have recently updated the lyrics section now adding the new like a dog single and b-sides. Check it out! Also if you just missed it last monday night, triple j played parts of a melbourne show from the last tour on Live at the wireless at 9pm. It will be repeated this Sunday at 5pm. Don't miss it!
WEDNESDAY 10TH JANUARY 2001
Alright with the release of Like a Dog coming soon we have more good news. Powderfinger have now secured Republic Records for their U.S release of 'Odyssey Number Five'. This means Odyssey will be unleashed internationally extremely soon! MONDAY 8TH JANUARY 2001
Ok I lied. Another Brisbane trip kept me off this board but due to funds and the lack thereof I will be around here for awhile! Powderfinger are on a short break before the Big Day Out tour but Odyssey Number 5 has gone 5x Platinum! That is in the vacinity of 350,000 records sold which is a mighty effort considering the album has only been out for 4 months!
Like a Dog has it's clip out already (catch rage to see it) and the release date for the single will be January 15th. The b-sides for this single are - Love my way (Psychedelic Furs cover) and Odyssey #2. Powderfinger have also (apparantly) secured a release for Odyssey in the UK which is great news for them considering they will be returning to the British Empire early this year. This site is soon to be converted to proper html so it won't be so bloody hard to navigate around! Enjoy the sun!!!
