2. Download list

First of all, download the following before installing your GUS depending on what you need. I'll show you how to install this later.

The following links are not guaranteed to be active. To keep them working as long as possible, they link on ftpsearch queries. Eventually, these queries will no longer return something: it will then be too late to grab these files on the internet, so copy these files on floppy disks if you can.

Windows 95 driver
The driver works with Windows 95 but not Windows 98. There are no NT drivers for the old UltraSound cards.
Download the Windows 95 GUS/MAX/ACE driver version 1.2b

GUS 4.11 disk set
If you do not have any installation disk or have a version older than 4.11, download this. You will need it in order to extract the original patch set. These have been removed from lots of places due to some licensing issues with the patchset, but if you've lost these disks, the links below still work:
Download disk 1
Download disk 2
Download disk 3
Download disk 4
Download disk 5
Download disk 6

Note that the install disks must be labled ULTRASND_disk_number such as ULTRASND_1 for disk 1, ULTRASND_2 for disk 2 and so on. Otherwhise, the installation fails at disk 2. (Thanks to shin3 for the advice)

Pro Patches Lite 1.60
If you plan on listening to a lot of MIDI files or playing games featuring MIDI music, this will make it sound better. It also comes with a bank for Megaem. I recommend this if you have 1 meg of memory on your GUS. These files are compressed with the arj software.
Download disk 1
Download disk 2
Download disk 3
Download disk 4
Download disk 5
Download update to version 1.61

Megaem 3.10
If you plan on playing old DOS games without native UltraSound support, download this SoundBlaster, MT32 and General MIDI emulator. The MT32 emulation is particularly nice with old games!
Download Megaem 3.10
