An isolated sanatorium deep in the West Virginia wilderness is deserted after an inbred family of hillbilly cannibals escape and take revenge on their captors. Decades later, a group of college students seek refuge in the now-abandoned hospital after a blizzard derails their plans for a weekend winter break. But when the students encounter the medical ward’s most frightening former patients, their only choice is to fight back...or die trying!

"Wrong Turn 4" is a prequel, an origins story taking us back to where it all began, it opens in 1974 in a mental hospital in West Virginia. A doctor is giving a new female doctor a tour and introduces the three inbred hillbilly cannibals. One thing the head doctor tells the female is they feel no pain and when they were discovered they were having their parents for dinner. They escape and let out all the other inmates and the carnage begins. Decades later a group of college kids on a winter break make a wrong turn and get lost..they find the now closed down hospital and enter to get out of the cold. What they don't know is the three hillbillies have made the place home and it isn't long before the carnage begins.

"Wrong Turn 4" is the best since the original, it brings you hot naked chicks, lots of blood and gore and plenty of action. The film also provides a good amount of thrills and suspense which is often missing from horror films like this one. Another plus here is that you actually have some feeling for these characters and when there's a invested interest it makes it all that more interesting and it puts you right at the edge of your seat the whole second half of the film as you become concerned about their well being.

The cast did a terrific job playing their roles and production wise the film looks great. Another thing I really liked about the film was that they used as many practical effects and make-up as they could, there are some CGI effects used but for the most part it's kept to a minimum. The film gets going right from it's opening scene and doesn't waste time on drama that isn't needed, fast-paced, gory and a ton a fun plus I really enjoyed the unexpected twist at the end. Easily the most fun I had watching a horror film in some time. If you liked the original film or are just a horror fan in general you owe it to yourself to pick this up. Available on DVD and Bluray, both come with Special Features that include:

Unrated Feature

R-Rated Feature

Feature Commentary with Director Declan O'Brien

Director's Die-ary's

Making Another Wrong Turn

Lifestyles of the Sick and Infamous

Music Video

Writer/Director, Declan O'Brien directed the third installment as well but he really delivers here and he does a great job with the story and more importantly amping up the blood and gore. "Wrong Turn 4" doesn't recreate the genre or even break new ground but it does deliver on what it promises and then some. For that it gets high ratings from me.
