Cold blooded killer Zhang Ning sneaks back into China to blend in. He is quickly pursued by two fierce and brutal bounty hunters. A grisly battle ensues between the killer, bounty hunters and cops. After a flurry of gunfights, martial arts combats, car chases, equestrian acrobatics, and pyrotechnic extravaganza, many a life will be lost and much honor and glory won in this grimly exciting Chinese Martial Arts Western that should not be missed.

"Wind Blast" is about a detective and his comrades who travel to a desert in pursuit of a contract killer, who is also being pursued by hit men hired by his contractor. If you're looking for an intelligent, thought-provoking film then I suggest you look elsewhere because this one was thin character development and the story isn't up to par with other Asian films like it but I don't think fans are going to mind all that too much. What this modern western does offer is action, action and more action. It's all over the top and unrealistic but the fight scenes, chases and gunfights are all incredibly staged. You will not see another film with such a furious pace and it's virtually non-stop action from beginning to end.

The cast including Francis Ng, Yihong Duan and Zhang Li all give great performances considering they didn't have a lot to work with as far as their characters go. Writer/Director, Qunshu Gao has created a film very different from his 2009 film "The Message," this film doesn't match up as far as story goes but it's one of the best action films I have seen in awhile. It's an insane, high-octane thrill ride. The production values are what we have come to expect from Asian cinema in recent years which is impeccable.

In the end "Wind Blast" is an action lover's dream, I found it very easy to over-all the film's flaws because the action is totally kick-ass so if you like the genre then I highly recommend checking this out, you are going to be very pleased with what you find.
