For the first time on Blu-ray, The set includes Johnny To's 2005 "Election" and its 2006 sequel "Triad Election." The third film, the 2004 "Triad Underwold" is not related to the first two but it still has the same themes so it fits in nicely here.
SYNOPSES:
ELECTION: In this thrilling Hong Kong action film, the senior members of the Wo Shing Triad elect a new chairman every two years, and nothing will stop rival leaders from using any means necessary to gain power.
TRIAD ELECTION: When a Wo Shing Triad member wants to build a legitimate business empire and go clean, the Chinese government refuses to give him access to the business market unless he becomes the new Triad chairman and brokers a standstill to the violence. But in order to do so, he must get his hands bloody.
TRIAD UNDERWORLD: On the night of his son’s birth, a Triad mob boss learns that an assassin is ordered to kill him within the next 12 hours. Refusing to leave his son, he decides to stand his ground and fight to the death -- the streets of Hong Kong are about to see a whole lot of action!
If you're a fan of Asian cinema then you already know the name Johnnie To means quality, To has won many awards and has gotten praise from critics all over the world in his 30 years in the business and having these films of his on Blu-ray is both exciting and perhaps long over due. I have always been a fan of To's especially fond of his crime films which he has done so many over the years, Election 1 and 2 set the bar for Mafia themed films and helped inspire the film "The Depearted." There is no better time than now to own these three great films on Blu-ray, there are no Special Features on the Blu-ray but this is worth owning for these amazing films alone.
