Scott Kane made a promise to his fiancee Anna that if she would marry him he would leave his checkered past as a hit man behind. The two get married and have a son who is now 7 years old, the boy suffers a heart attack and the couple are told he needs a transplant in order to stay alive but they do not have insurance or the money to cover such an expensive surgery. Desperate, Scott pays a visit to his old kingpin boss who tells him he will help if Scott does one more hit for him. Of course the kingpin double crosses Scott and he is caught and sent to prison, they send in a few guys to kill Scott but he easily takes care of them and decides to break out and save not only his son but his wife also who is now being held by the ruthless kingpin. It will not be easy because Scott has the police, an FBI agent and a crooked local sheriff all on his tail.

Similar to the film "John Q" and many others like it "The Kane Files" doesn't offer anything really new but it's still a well-done, action packed action thriller and is pure entertainment.

The cast did a terrific job, Drew Fuller is fantastic as Scott, he handles the action scenes with ease and the more dramatic scenes with conviction. Ethan Embry is also excellent as the shady cop who is in too deep to walk away now. Other notable cast members are William Devane as the FBI agent who wants Scott to turn evidence on the kingpin who is played by William Atherton who always plays bad good and he delivers here as well

The film is filled with clichés but it's an action film and a gem at that. The action is non-stop and the scenes are very well choreographed with plenty of hand to hand fighting, gun fire and explosions. I'm not sure you can call it an underrated film because it is an Indie film after-all and never received a big theatrical release but if you're a fan of action then this is certainly a sleeper hit that should do very well on DVD through strong word of mouth.

Action, suspense and plenty of thrills makes this a film not to miss, you can order the DVD HERE.

There are no Special Features to speak of other than the film's trailer on the DVD but if you're a fan of the genre this is well-worth checking out. Before I forget let me also give credit to Writer/Director, Benjamin Gourley who did a terrific job at keeping the film moving at a tremendous pace, He really has an eye for action and I look forward to see what he comes up with next.
