The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Richard Gere, Topher Grace, Martin Sheen, Stephen Moyer, Odette Yustman
A retired CIA operative is paired with a young FBI agent to unravel the mystery of a senator's murder, with all signs pointing to a Soviet assassin.
The always dependable Richard Gere plays a retired CIA agent who is called back from retirement to find a Soviet assassin believed to have been dead. A senator was murdered with the killer using the same MO as code name "Cassius" a former Russian agent assassin who was never caught. Gere's character is paired with Topher Grace's character, a young desk jockey from the FBI. Ben studied Cassius and wrote his thesis on him. He believes Cassius is alive and retired in the US and is the recent killer. Paul claims it is a copy cat killer and does not want to work with Ben.
The film is full of twists and turns, an early twist in the film is quickly revealed but there are plenty more to follow to you you guessing and on the edge of your seat. There are a few twists a long the way that make the film a little far-fetched especially at the end but over-all this is a very effective espionage thriller that has a terrific cast.
If I go into anymore details about the film I will certainly ruin it for those waiting to see it so I am going to stop here. Like I said the before the film has a terrific cast including, Richard Gere, Topher Grace, Stephen Moyer, and Martin Sheen, all give excellent performances. "The Double" is a fast moving thriller that does a good job at keeping you guessing, it may not be perfect in story but it's certainly a lot more entertaining than most films today and Director, Michael Brandt does a great job at keeping the sotry moving at a good pace.
Available of DVD and Blu-ray, both come with Special Features that include
Producer interviews
Trailer
Commentary with Michael Brandt (Director/Writer) and Derek Haas (Writer)
It's not often a movie can keep it's audience guessing but "The Double" does a nice job in doing so, there's also some good action, some killing and a nice amount of suspense as well going on so if you like this kind of thriller then I recommend checking it out. The cast does a terrific job and the writing is clever enough to over come it's few flaws...I think most fans of the genre are going to find this to be as entertaining as I did so be sure to check it out.
