Under the benign leadership of King Sejong (Sung-kee Ahn), the Joseon dynasty is a model of Korean statehood but is perceived as an obstacle to the warlike Chinese Ming dynasty, which wishes to expand its power and influence, whatever the cost. In response to the Ming's bloody incursions into his territory, Sejong commands the construction of a secret weapon, the Phantom Arrowslinger, a device that may just cause as many problems as it solves.

This is the story of the Asian arms race between Ming China and Joseon Korea. The film has a lot to offer if your a fan of this type of movie including lots of battle scenes which are breath-taking at times,a little romance and even a little lighter moments as well. I liked the way the the writers were never gave away the plans the good guys had for the big battle until that moment. There are a lot of characters introduced so it can become a little confusing at times but the major ones are easy enough to keep track of which is the most important thing here. The film's battle scenes are of the realistic variety so do not expect to see people flying around and a hero taking on twenty men at a time here by himself. This is not the best Asian flick I have seen but for a historic film it is fascinating and enjoyable enough to watch. The cast, costumes and settings are all excellent here as well making this a solid and some what educational film. If your a fan of Asian cinema or just like an epic than you are going to find this to very entertaining. The film comes in it's original Korean language with English subtitles.
