Prepare yourself for the unrated movie experience that critics are calling one of the most graphic and extreme end-of-the-world shockers of our time: As nuclear warheads rain down on Manhattan, nine strangers - Lauren German (Hostel: Part II), Michael Biehn (Aliens, Tombstone), Milo Ventimiglia (“Heroes”), Courtney B. Vance (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”), Ivan Gonzalez, Michael Eklund (Hunt To Kill), Ashton Holmes (“Revenge”) and Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction) – barricade themselves in their apartment building’s bunker-like basement controlled by the unhinged superintendent. But within days, supplies dwindle, tempers flare and the trapped survivors find themselves overcome by treachery, madness, sexual torment and savage violence. What follows is intense. It is raw. And it is all brutally, horrifyingly real.

Sadly this film received mixed reviews by other critics during it's limited festival run. I know one thing, the film will not appeal to everyone but it will get you thinking. This is a dark, unpleasant look at what people are capable of doing in extreme situations. Did I like the film? I am one that has no problem calling it a crazy masterpiece.

Director, Xavier Gens has create a disturbing look at what an apocalyptic event might be like, the film never really goes outside the basement of what was an apartment building but it doesn't have to. All the insanity and panic is right there inside as a group of people begin to lose control as time passes and food begins to dwindle.

Director, Xavier Gens also has a terrific cast at hand including Lauren German, Milo Ventimiglia, Rosanna Arquette and Michael Biehn who gives the performance of his career. The settings are relatively simple but their effective and everything looks very good production wise. To talk about what happens in the film would only ruin a very effective thriller for those of you waiting to see it but I can tell you that "The Divide" is not only one of the best end of the world thrillers out there but it's one of the best films I have seen in some time.

The film is available on DVD and Blu-ray/DVD Combo with Special Features that include:

Audio Commentary with Director Xavier Gens and Actors Michael Biehn, Michael Eklund and Milo Ventimiglia

Some might think this is a horror film but it's not, it's a brutal yet brave thriller that hits on all cylinders. A realistic look at human nature at its cruelest when faced with immediate death.
