After newspaper writers John and Jennifer Grogan get married John decides to buy her a puppy to hold off on having a baby so soon. They pick Marley, a Labrador retriever. But it isn't long before the cute puppy is a whopping 100lbs and to make things worse he still acts like a puppy, getting into everything and even worse breaking them as well. The story is simple yet it is the most realistic family film I have seen in some time. Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson are perfect as the young couple who decide that getting a puppy will hold them off till they have children but they never could of dreamed what they were getting when they picked Marley. This dog is a menace, he gets into trouble at every turn and tears apart their house in the process. But there is also something special about this dog, he brings them together in their first difficult months of marriage and is a central part of their family once the children arrive as well. There is plenty to laugh and smile about along the way as Marley has one misadventure after the other but the film is not all smiles. It is not a Christmas film that brings cheers, instead it will bring tears. It is about human/dog bonding, Marley is there for John,he is also there for Jennifer when John is not around and finally he is there for the children both young and as they begin to get older. Marley & Me is a heart warming film that isn't about just one thing, its about a young married couple trying to make it through their lives together with the bills and raising children and Marley is just a piece of the puzzle that brings them all together. A dog they got as a puppy who grew into a true member of the family and the heart-break of having to let him go. Marley is a Charming and thoughtful film that brings plenty of laughs and plenty of tears. I highly recommend owning this DVD, with what is in theaters today it is nice to see a film filled with this much family values and one that you can sit down to with your family and enjoy it together. We tend to take a lot of things for granted in our lives but Marley reminds us in the end that family is the most important thing of all. Marley will be available of both DVD and Blu-ray and is packed with Special Features. Two-Disc Special Edition DVD Specs: The Marley & Me Special Edition DVD will be presented in widescreen format (2.35:1 aspect ratio) with English 5.1 Dolby Surround and Spanish and French Dolby Surround Sound with English and Spanish subtitles.
