Horror/Thriller NR. A veteran female detective, So-Young, and her rookie assistant are investigating a recent series of bizarre and horrifying murders. All of the victims seem to have died due to an acid unleashed inside of their bodies. As the two detectives discover more about the case, they soon realize the serial killings may have something to do with a death that occurred ten years ago in a salt house. Before long, So-Young becomes plagued by nightmares in which the dead girl appears and the horrific killings continue to confound. Regardless of how many times the Asian ghost story film's have been done I always find them enjoyable for many reasons. One is the fact no other country can pull off such a genre with it's fantastic atmosphere, sound effects and photography. Arang is just another example of how well the Asian film industry does it.This time around Korea takes an old genre and makes it new by throwing in a detective mystery to stir things up and to keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat till the credits roll. You might thing th mystery part of the film might slow it down but Director Ahn Sang Hoon did a fantastic job mixing it in well with the ghost story which by the way provides some chilling scares. The acting is perfect as always and the story is clever and original. The ending might to a bit confusing to some so if your wondering about that email me and I will give you my view on that, either way pick this chilling mystery up today.
