When straight-arrow FBI agent Roy Clayton investigates a dangerous international conspiracy responsible for a prison break in Yemen, a bombing in Nice and a raid in London, all clues seem to lead back to former U.S. Special Operations officer, Samir Horn. But a tangle of contradictory evidence emerges, forcing Clayton to question whether his suspect is a disaffected former military operative—or something far more complicated.
Obsessed with discovering the truth, Clayton tracks Horn across the globe as the elusive ex-soldier burrows deeper and deeper into a world of shadows and intrigue.
Since 9/11 there has been many movies dealing with terrorism and after the first one or two they became pretty boring because none really offered anything new. Traitor is the newest film to deal on the same subject but this one rises above all the others before it. The film is a mix of action, suspense and spy thriller about a man caught between doing what he thinks is right and living with the consequences that come with it. One of the reasons that this film was so different from the others like it is the fact that this is a well-written, intelligent film that forces it's audience to think. Sure there is some nice action but it is the the focal point here, it is the story that grabs you here. There is a lot going on here so the movie can become a little confusing if you do not pay attention. I am not going to sit here and give away too much of the film as I think this is one movie that is better to be just seen instead of being told about. But I can say the film is packed with great suspense and it has a cast to die for, Don Cheadle and Guy Pearce are terrific as well as the entire cast. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for something different from the normal Hollywood popcorn action fare they release, Traitor is a thinking man's spy thriller that delivers on every level. Also you might be surprised to find out half of the writing credits go to Steve Martin, yes the wild and crazy guy. This is very impressive considering we all know him for his comedy work. The film is available of DVD and BLU-Ray and includes the Special Features:
Audio Commentary Featuring Director Jeffrey Nachmanoff and Actor Don Cheadle
