"Together Again for the First Time" tells the story of a blended family reuniting on Christmas Eve. It's the first time they've all been in the same house at the same time since the parent's marriage seven years before--which wouldn't be a problem if they all liked each other. But they don't. And matters only get worse with the unexpected arrival of an ex-boyfriend, an unannounced live television broadcast, and the outing of well-kept family secrets. This is a comic, touching movie about what it means to be a family--even when you don't like each other very much.
The Wolders-Frobisher family hasn't been together since their parent's marriage 7 yrs before now on Christmas eve they will all join together. This is the set-up for another Christmas tale out this week on DVD. The story centers solely on these two families, none of them seem to like each other at all but there is other problems as well that just might teach them all a lesson of two. I found this to be funny, sad and about as realistic as you are going to get in a film. I mean there are families out there just like this one, sad I know that even family can't get along but its true. I am not going to dig any deeper in to the plot here as the surprises along the way are much better seen than told about. One thing that makes this film so special is the cast, I am not going to point out any one actor here as being the best because this is an ensemble piece and I don't know if they could of picked a better cast than this because each actor is simply amazing here. Julia Duffy, David Ogden Stiers, Larisa Oleynik, and Joey Lawrence are all terrific along with the rest of the cast. Also I must not forget to give credit to Director,Jeff Parkin, this is his first time at writing and directing a feature film and if this movie is any indication then Jeff has a very bright future ahead of him behind the camera. Watching the extra behind the scenes on the DVD I got the feeling that all involved not only loved who they worked with but just had a great time making this film period and it paid off big time after seeing it. This is light-hearted film about a dysfunctional family, it will make you laugh and even cry and along the way you are going to learn a lot about the importance of family. I see this film being a huge success on DVD due to great word of mouth. I know I highly enjoyed it and I cannot recommend this film enough. Released by PorchLight Home Entertainment.***** Out Of *****
