Comedy/Family/Fantasy Rated PG. When Larry Daley, a divorced father who can't seem to keep a job for more than a week, applies for a job at the Museum of Natural History, he is assigned as a night guard. However, a seemingly easy job turns out to be a wild ride when he finds that an ancient curse has caused the "inhabitants" of the museum to come to life. I have seen some not so good reviews for this smash box-office hit and after watching it I have to wonder why. Sure there's some corny jokes and silly parts but that's what all part of this film's magic. This is a family film aimed toward kids and the most important thing this film does is open your child's imagination, that is never a bad thing. Plus how can you beat seeing Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney on the silver screen together, priceless. Ben Stiller has never been better as the "new" night guard at the museum that gets a real surprise when everything begins to come to life, even a T-Rex!! The supporting cast is also fantastic including Robin Williams and Owen Wilson. The character's which include Atilla the Hun are all great and really keep the film lively and moving at a great pace. Family films are always welcomed and this one is no exception, it's a fun film that also serves as abit of a learning tool and maybe even gets the young ones interested in visiting the museum which can never be a bad thing. All-over great action packed fun with fantastic specials effects making for a fun-filled adventure for the entire family. The Two-Disc set comes loaded with bonus features includes extended and deleted scenes, an alternate opening sequence, featurettes on special effects and costumes, a blooper reel, and much more. Own this DVD today and enjoy hours of endless entertainment. Released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. ***** Out Of *****
