Years after two 30 foot prehistoric crocodiles are captured and killed in Maine, the local sheriff teams up with an EPA agent, a female Fish and Wildlife agent and a big game hunter, to kill four blood-thirsty offspring of the original killer crocs.
This is either the long awaited sequel to the 1999 hit movie or not depending on how you look at it I guess. Originally this aired on the Sci-Fi Channel but on DVD it comes available in the unrated version. All sequels are judged off their originals but I am not so sure that is fair and even more so here, for starters this is a made-for-tv movie so it cannot even have the same production values as the original nor could they have afforded the original cast. The original had it's fair share of humor but also had a more scary factor going for it. Lake Placid 2 is much more intentionally humorous and and I felt that helped the film which otherwise might of suffered from it's budget. As far as the budget goes the production is pretty solid for a television film, the cgi is average, nothing great but I think it added to the over-all "B" movie affect they might of been looking for here. The cast I felt for the most part did a fine job including John Schneider,Sarah Lafleur, and Cloris Leachman as the sister of Betty White's character from the first film. I am not going to say this is as good or even close to being as good as the first film but I found this is be pretty entertaining if looked at for what it is, a low budget, more humorous take on the monster genre. In fact in some ways I found it refreshing because it never once takes itself serious and y doing that it allows the viewer to have fun with the movie as well. The DVD comes with special features that include:
