Notes on a Scandal
Drama Rated R. When pottery instructor Sheba Hart (Cate Blanchett) dives into an illicit affair with one of her students, she creates a sticky situation that spells turmoil for herself and puts a fellow teacher in a tough spot. St. George faculty member Barbara Covett (Judi Dench) connects with the pretty new art teacher, but things get complicated when Sheba divulges her secret. This type of drama may not appeal to everyone but if your a lover of cinema then this is a must-see. The plot is pretty straight forward, you get what you see thru most of the film but what really separates this from others like it is the acting. Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench have perfect chemistry and this has to be the best acting by a duo in a film in a long time. It's too bad neither won an award for this as I think both deserved it. The supporting cast is just as strong including Bill Nighy as the older husband trying to make sense of it all while taking care of his two children. The story has a strong mix of anger, humor and sadness that is mixed together without a hitch, that combined with one of the year's best cast's make this a true master piece and a must own for anyone that loves a powerful film. Released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. ***** Out Of *****
