Midnight Movies: From the Margin to the Mainstream tells the hidden history of these landmark films, El Topo (1970), Night of the Living Dead (1968), The Harder They Come (1973), Pink Flamingos (1972), The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), and Eraserhead (1977).The documentary features interviews with the directors, producers, writers and actors who were part of these low-budget, yet monumental productions, the exhibitors and distributors who played them, and the audiences who viewed them.

This is a fascinating Absorbing documentary about midnight movies--how they started, why they existed and did so well and what killed them. There's six key movies this documentary deals with, El Topo, Night of the Living Dead, The Harder They Come, Pink Flamingos, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Eraserhead. Interviews included all done with directors and those that put the movies into theaters and the reaction they all got from both fan's and critics alike. You got to remember when Rocky Horror Picture Show went to theaters as a regular release that it bombed. For those that can remember going to the midnight showing of any of these movies know what fun they were, sad that those days are gone forever. This is a great documentary filled with many scenes from each film and the interviews are as entertaining as they are educational. I highly recommend picking this film up today and re-live the fun of the 70's. released by Starz Home Entertainment. ***** Out Of *****
