Death By Engagement

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Horror Rated R. Two police detectives try to track down a vicious serial killer bent on reclaiming his mother's family heirloom wedding ring as it passes from bride to bride with the killer always one step behind, and the detectives one step behind the killer. I have to say that over the last 25 years or so they have pretty much exhausted the horror genre to the point where it makes it very hard to come up with anything original, that is until I seen "Death by Engagement". The story itself and the way it's executed is in itself a triumph, here you have a woman and her bridesmaid that are killed on her wedding day and while the killer is in the back seat still beating on the women a Police Officer shoots him and due to some circumstances the film begins it's twisted and clever way. I do not want to get involved in the plot too much here and spoil any of the fun that awaits you. The fact that the ring just keeps popping up in people's hands might seem a bit confusing as there's never an explanation on all that till near the end of the movie so hang in there, also there's plus really nice twists along the way that will keep you guessing till the final frame and once you think you got it figured out they toss another curve your way. The cast is excellent, including Icon P.J. Soles(Halloween,Stripes and Carrie), it's fantastic to see her again on the big screen and she play the most twisted mother I have seen in years. The rest of the cast are great too including Sascha Knopf and Aaron MacPherson as the two Detectives hot on the trail of this serial killer, These two actors play wonderful off each other. Another great thing about this movie is it's characters, there's not one wasted in this film and all are both lively and full of personality, plus the dialogue is razor sharp and full of wit. After seeing this film you will agree that it took a creative team to make such a clever film and a lot of the credit has goes to Director Philip Creager who also wrote the script as well. Philip has only done only feature film and a short before this but shows here he's got loads of talent and a he shows a lot of promise. Hopefully some big Hollywood wig will see what this man has to offer soon. Death has been winning awards after awards in festivals around the world and after seeing it you will know why. I can honestly say this is the most fun I had watching a horror film in a long time, you get plenty of blood and nudity to please any fan and some humor and about as clever a plot as you will ever see. This is a must own for any fan of the genre. The DVD comes with bonus features that include:
