Bo Durant (Gabriel Macht), working class gearhead, is obsessed with his prized 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. Recently released from home detention, Bo’s alcohol-fueled joy ride lands the car in impound. After several humiliating attempts to get it back, Bo is forced to ride a bicycle to work. On the way home, he has an accident. As he recovers, his personality takes some strange turns. Neither his wife Jenny (Kim Dickens) nor his friends Raina (Kate Walsh) and Glenn (Brad William Henke) can relate to him anymore--nobody except his stepdaughter Dale (Allison Pill), who believes that Bo has experienced an “awakening”. Her desire to shield him from the cruel realities of the world has its own absurd and near disastrous consequences.
"One Way to Valhalla" is a drama with a nice dose of humor mixed it which keeps the subject matter from becoming too much of a downer. The story is about Bo Durant who is a mechanic, married and has a step-daughter and some good friends. He is also obnoxious and his two main things in life are his drinking and his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. One day while driving under the influence his car ends up getting impounded and without the money to get it out he is forced to ride his step-daughter's bike to work but on his way a car pulls out in front of him and sends him flying over the hood. After leaving the hospital to recover at home his personality and behavior becomes strange which alarms both his wife and friends. What's even stranger now is the only person that can relate to him is his step-daughter who he never got along with before. Has Bo snapped or has he just seen the light and has decided to change his reckless ways? That is what you're going to find out when you pick up "One Way to Valhalla" on April 26th. The story is well written and with it's perfect mix of drama and light comedy plus it's interesting characters you can't help but fall in love with it, this is one of those films you can't wait to tell your friends and family about. The cast is another reason for the film's success, Gabriel Macht shines in the lead as Bo, he delivers a flawless performance of a complex character. The rest of the cast including Kim Dickens as his wife and Katie Walsh as their friend are amazing as well.
This is one of those film's that you really need to see and not be told about because the fun is in it's characters and it's delivery. An engaging, fun dramedy that delivers through it's amazing cast. You can pre-order the DVD HERE.
