First off I would like to thank Director J.R. Sawyers for sending me a copy of his film for review. "Nerve" tells the story of Josh who has a bad case of anxiety which makes it impossible to communicate with others until a co-worker asks him to be a part of her experiment regarding social anxiety disorder. Once she gives Josh his first test things begin to change in unexpected ways for Josh and everyone around him.

In a time when all Hollywood seems to release is sequels and remakes Independent cinema is where the real stories are and "Nerve" is a great example how good a film can be when you have a great script, a wonderful cast and a director that knows how to tell a story that engages the audience. An award winning film and for good reason, "Nerve" is many things, it's dramatic, funny and it is also a film that tells a unique story, I can't remember any other film that has dealt with social anxiety disorder before.

The cast did a terrific job playing their roles, Tyler Langdon is incredible as Josh. His character is not an easy one to play but Tyler handles it with ease. Laura Alexandra Ramos is terrific as well as Aurora, the young lady that is using Josh for her psych paper that's all about social anxiety and last but not least Peter Divito is wonderful as well in the film. Production wise the film looks great and the soundtrack is fantastic as well.

I purposely did not say much about the story because no matter what I could say here would never do the film justice, this is a film that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. "Nerve" is a thought-provoking film that provides the perfect mix of drama and humor. This is an Indie gem that is both clever and intelligent, if there's one movie you have to see this year then this is the one. I was truly taken back by how awesome this brilliant piece of cinema was, the film goes in many directions and it's loaded with surprises around every corner. A Independent gem that entertains on the highest level, I cannot recommend seeing this film enough. Writer/Director, J.R. Sawyers has created a very special film for his debut and all I can say is I cannot wait to see what he comes up with next. I loved this film and it deserves to be seen by a large audience so do yourself a favor and get your copy today.
