My Name is A by anonymous (formerly known as The Columbine Effect) tells an inspired by true crime story about a 15 year old girl who allegedly murdered her 9 year old neighbor.
The film was inspired by the murder of 9 year old Elizabeth Olten and her accused killer, 15 year old Alyssa Bustamante. Bustamante is now 17 years old and still awaiting trail (set for September 2011). The Director has said the film is a work of fiction and only used public knowledge of media publicity as inspiration for its basis. We do not claim to know or argue Bustamante's guilt or innocence. If you want to learn more about the actual murder case you can just do a simple google search, as of today the case still has not gone to trail.
"My Name is A by anonymous" is being released by Mad Sin Cinema Productions. The film was shot in black and white, it was done in a documentary style using hand-helds and even cell phones so everything you're seeing feels so real as if you are standing right there beside these troubled young girls. The film doesn't focus much on what their family life might of been like but these are girls with obvious mental problems, several of the girls in the film are cutters and they are always out running around using foul language and getting into some kind of trouble.
The production is simple but effective and that combined with a very hard to watch, disturbing story is a real visual assault, nothing I can say here can prepare for the evil that is showcased here. Now when I say the film is disturbing I am not suggesting not to watch it, in fact I think it's not only a powerful film but an important one as well that gives us only one example of some of the troubles our youth is getting into today. I am not going to sit here and judge the parents or the girls surroundings on what happened because there really isn't much in the way of answers or motives here. I can tell you that it's a wake up call for many to be aware and look for early signs in our children who may be acting strange.
For lack of a better word "My Name is A by anonymous" is an effective film that draws the audience in, grabs you by the throat and doesn't let you go till the heart breaking end. It will leave you thinking about it long after it's over.
The film stars International pop star Teona Dolnikova formerly of the band Slot, Demi Baumann – the younger sister of actor Ken Baumann from The Secret Life of the American Teenager and the Megan Fox film Whore, Sean Cain – who just directed the Jason Mews (Clerks) film Breath of Hate, and Domiziano Arcangeli – star/producer of Lionsgate's Virus X. With newcomers Katie Marsh, Kaliya Skye, Joseph Marsh and Alex Damiano. Produced by Alisha Rayne, Cinematography by Arturo Guerrero, Written & Directed by Bonéshin. The young cast in the film did an amazing job, each and everyone gave realistic and brilliant performances. The film is gritty, shocking and scary in the sense that that is based off of real events. I am not sure when the film will get released but if you keep checking back here I will update you on it's progress. In the mean time you can go ahead and search for yourself to get a better idea what the filmmakers were trying to accomplish here. A thought-provoking film you can't take your eyes off of even if you wanted to. The film isn't going to be for everyone but if you like this sort of thing then I highly recommend keeping an eye for it's release.
