The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Gabrielle Dennis, Jason Weaver, Caryn Ward, Carl Payne, Clifton Powell, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Darius McCrary
Director: Roger Melvin
Kent (Jason Weaver) is ready to put his playboy past behind him and marry the girl he loves- but first, he has to prove he’s changed his ways for good. Convinced that “all men cheat,” Brooke (Gabrielle Dennis) hires a reputational temptress (Caryn Ward) to confirm her suspicion that Kent is incapable of fidelity. But, when the professional seductress falls for Kent, the ultimate test of loyalty becomes a fight to win his affection. Torn between the girlfriend determined to make him Mr. Perfect and the seemingly perfect woman, Kent realizes that his grass may be green enough!
"He's Mine, Not Yours" is a romance/comedy with a little bit of drama tossed in. The drama is very little because the director decided to make a film that has the audience laughing during the film and smiling when it's over. The film focuses on Kent and his girlfriend Brooke, the two of them are in love and seem to be the perfect couple but Brooke isn't sure about Kent as far as leaving his past behind him so when she hears about a "man stealer," a woman who provides a service of finding out if a man is loyal by tempting him Brooke decides to give her a call. Mandy quickly finds out that Kent is one of the few men around that is determined to stay loyal but after she tells Brooke the test is over after only a few days Brooke insists Mandy to keep testing him. What neither woman could of known was that Mandy would begin to fall for Kent herself which causes a battle between the two women for his affection. It's not until Kent finds out about Brooke's plan that the real trouble begins and her not trusting him puts the relationship in major jeopardy.
I suppose by now many of you out there can already tell how this will all end, yes it's predictable and it doesn't break any new ground as far as the genre goes but this is a good little film with a few really good laughs and plenty of smiles even with all the chaos going on. "He's Mine, Not Yours" is a comedy about relationships, loyalty and trust that is at times touching, dramatic and even hilarious.
The cast including, Carl Payne, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Nadine Ellis and Darius McCrary all give terrific, realistic performances and the film itself moves along at a nice pace so you are never bored. If you like Urban comedies or just romance/comedies in general then I suggest picking it up, it's worth at least a rental.
