Earth Day tells the tale of a group of ex eco-crusaders who find themselves being systematically slaughtered as the one year anniversary of the tragic Earth Day death of their leader, Pixie, approaches. Detective Trent Torrance suspects only one man: Hassan, who grew up in the most extreme terrorist sect in all of Pakistan, only to be expelled for going under the Burga and embracing the forbidden art of Women's hair care. Together with Priscilla, Pixie's nihilistic twin sister, they strive to prove Hassan's innocence, while trying to avoid her insanely overprotective plastic surgeon father Dr. Percival Peever, and his plastic surgery casualty of an assistant, Lenora.

One thing about Earth Day is that it doesn't take very long to realize that film doesn't take itself seriously and neither should you. That is one of the things that makes this film a gem of sorts, the situations, characters and dialogue are so far out there that you can't help laughing. Besides the obvious environmental message the titles gives away the film has everything it needs to be successful, there's love, sex, laughter, some mystery and suspense and yes some good old fashion murder to make you cringe every now and then. Earth Day is a good example of an Independent film from it's off-the- wall characters to it's LOL moments, you know early on you are in for a treat. I can't say that everyone will "get" the film but for fan's of Indie films this one is certainly one that you will be telling your friends about, it's just that wacky entertaining. The cast did a great job in playing these over-the-top characters and the film manages to capture Lane County, Oregon perfectly. Right from the start you can tell the film had to be a blast to make, it looks like everyone involved had a great time making it and the audience certainly feeds off the energy. If you like your horror different and original then you are going to really find Earth Day to be something special.
