The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Corbin Bernsen, Adrienne Frantz, and Susan Ruttan
A seen-better-days actor who reinvents himself as the creator of a new media sensation that goes terribly, hilariously awry. When he finds Donna (Adrienne Frantz), a foulmouthed vixen who's as enigmatic as she is outspoken, he comes up with the idea to make her a webcam superstar -- as long as she'll sit still for it and he can keep the stalkers away.
Corbin Bernsen has had a career in Hollywood that certainly has had it's ups and downs. He to me has always had that sinister comedic edge to him that made him stand him from the rest. I was looking forward to watching Donna because Corbin wrote, produced and directed it and he also stars in it. The film pokes fun at his up and down fame but it also is laced with his own brand of dark humor. You can say this is a dark comedy that is similar to something Woody Allen might make but but to me this is a step above anything Woody might make in terms of being "dark". The film is about a down and out actor that is looking for that big break to jump start his career again and he finds it in a foul-mouthed young blond, after seeing her do a stand-up act he comes up with the idea to set up a web site and turn her into a web cam internet sensation. To tell too much more about a film such as this would not do it any justice and only ruin the experience for those wanting to check it out but I can tell you Corbin is his old reliable self when it comes to comedy and Adrienne Frantz who plays Donna is so funny I found myself laughing so hard at times my stomach hurt. This is one of those gems that combines a clever story with witty dialogue and so many zany characters that you can't help but have a good time watching it. I have seen some negatives reviews on this and I can only guess that those people just didn't get the movie. I found it to be fresh and entertaining to the point where I found myself telling others about it. I do think word of mouth will spread on this and it is one of those little films that just might gain a cult following in time. I highly recommend picking this up and giving it a chance, sit back, relax to your favorite beverage and just go with it. If you do that you are going to find a very funny and enjoyable film just like I did.
