Middle school isn't all it's cracked up to be for self-described "wimpy kid" Greg Heffley, who discovers a frightening new world teeming with boys who are taller, tougher and hairier than he is -- and decides to document it all in his diary. Directed by Thor Freudenthal, this kid-friendly comedy based on Jeff Kinney's illustrated novel cast its star by asking kids to submit their auditions online.

A film made from the popular book series of the same name, how often have we seen movies come from books and they turned out just horrible but this one manages to stay true to book while at same time be a film that provides some of the best family entertainment even if you never read the books at all. The film is about an undersized kid trying to fit into his befuddling environment. A lot people out there can relate to the story in one way or another and in the end there is a few lessons to be learned as well. I would say the film is for kids in the 8 to 14 age group, anyone under that might get a bit bored from it. As an adult I found it to be funny while staying clean enough for the little ones to watch, I enjoyed the movie much more than I thought I would to be honest so it was certainly a nice surprise. The cast of children actors all do a great job playing their roles plus the film also has some veteran star power with Rachael Harris and Steve Zahn playing the parents.

The movie completely mirrors and reflects the very nature of middle school well cutting out some of the things preteen kids say nowadays, it's still there but hidden under an almost innocence. One of best family oriented films this year so, this is a film the entire family can sit down and enjoy together so if you have children this is a must own on DVD and Blu-ray. Each comes with a load of Special Features that include:
