The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Nikki Boyer, Beau Clark, Wayne Grace, K Callan, Frederic Doss, Tiffany Lynch, Everett Scott Ortiz, Chad Brummett
When he gets waylaid in rural Coyote County, big-city radio host Jack Proctor (Beau Clark) takes to the airwaves of a local radio station and boasts that he can help the county's biggest loser land a date with the region's hottest woman. This rankles the station's resident love-advice expert Dr. Lauren Hartford (Nikki Boyer), and soon the nascent lovebirds are sparring on and off the air.
Romantic comedies are one of the easiest films to make because they seem to all follow the same formula but when the execution is done right they can be very entertaining and even if you already know the outcome halfway through the movie the journey is still worth the ride and "Coyote County Loser" is one of those little gems that just does everything right. Beau Clark and Nikki Boyer are terrific together and show great chemistry as the two radio personalities that clash over who gives the best advice on love but what they never expected was to fall in love with each other. Beau does a great job playing cocky yet sweet Jack and Nikki is sweet, beautiful and highly talented. Also two veteran actors, K Callan and Wayne Grace are fantastic as an older couple, it is their love for each other that inspires the other characters and the audience as well. Like I said before there isn't much originality or new as far as the genre goes but Director, Jason Naumann goes a great job at keeping things moving fast, keeping it light and getting the most out of his cast. One thing the film has that others like it seem to lack is characters that are well-developed, these are real people you care about early on. "Coyote County Loser" has a great story that keeps it family-friendly, it is also sweet, funny and delivers a nice message. You sometimes find love in in most unlikely of places so keep your eyes open. I laughed, teared up and in the end I was left with a big smile on my face.
This is a film that will have mass appeal, both men and women will enjoy watching this it together or alone. Independent cinema produces many films that surprise and "Coyote County Loser" is an example of the kind of gems you can find out if you are willing to look past mainstream cinema. I had a great time watching this and highly recommend it to anyone that just wants to have a good time. It was certainly great to see a romantic comedy with real characters for once, hats off to everyone involved in making the film and I cannot wait to see what this talented filmmaker has coming.
