Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they face danger every day. Yet when tragedy strikes close to home, these fathers are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, and their faith. From this struggle will come a decision that changes all of their lives.

This is the fourth Christian-Themed film from Sherwood Pictures and it seems with each one they have gotten better, in story, acting and production. "Courageous" is the best as far as production values to date and like the first three films in carries a a strong message about faith. The film wastes no time getting to the story, it's tense opening scenes set the stage for a film experience like no other. After watching the film I have decided to not discuss plot details here, what is written above is about all you really need to know going into the film and the less you know the better the over-all experience is going to be.

The Film is directed by Alex Kendrick who also co-wrote and stars in the film as well. Only thing I can say is Alex did an amazing job in front and behind the camera. The rest of the cast of unknowns did a terrific job as well playing these complicated characters. "Courageous" goes from intense police action scenes to more sober moments that will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. The bad guys in the film are some of the worse kind and the good guys are realistic, flawed characters themselves that look to not only be better dads but better people over-all.

The film is primary aimed towards fathers but the message can be for any parent or anyone for that matter, the story shows how the faith of these men get tested and it also challenges their morals not only as police officers but as human beings as well. The message here is loud and clear, some may find it to be "Preaching" but if you open not only your eyes and ears but your heart as well you will find that the film teaches instead. If you open your heart you just might find that "Courageous" has the ability to make us all better people.

I can talk about what the film sets out to do all day long but it's really a film that has to be seen to truly have an effect on you. It's at times, funny, sad and even exciting but it's also a film that builds hope and it's truly inspirational. "Courageous" has a realistic story with realistic characters everyone can relate to and it's message is loud and clear, I recommend this must-see film to everyone, bring tissues with you because you will be needing them. This is the kind of film that changes people, it's not often a movie comes along that can have this big an impact on those that experience it but I truly believe it has and will continue to make a difference.

"Courageous" is on DVD and Blu-ray 01/17/12, you can visit it's official site HERE. Times have certainly changed for the worst and our world is getting darker and darker, hopefully "Courageous" will give hope and inspire those that see it to change, maybe then the world will begin to become a better place.
