Ricki heard the door slam, and she lifted her head from her pillow.

"Shit." She heard Zac stumble around in the dark for a few seconds before turning on the bathroom light.

She looked at her clock, and it read 2 am. "Zac?"

"Huh?" He whispered, sticking his head out of the bathroom.

"Did you just get back?" She asked.

"yeah." He replied, going back into the bathroom.

He brushed his teeth and changed into his pajamas, then emerged a few minutes later. She heard him pull back the covers to his bed and get settled.

A few minutes later, Zac decided it was time to talk. "Are you asleep?" He whispered into the darkness.

"Not now." Ricki grumbled.

"Oh...well, don't you wanna hear how it went?" He asked.

"Do I really have a choice?"

Zac was taken back. "Don't you want to know?"

He sounded like he wanted her to know, and Ricki wasnt' about to protest. "Go ahead. How was it?" She asked.

Zac grinned in the dark. "It' was awesome. We went to dinner with some of her friends, and then we went to a movie. Then she knew these people who were having a party, so we went to that too." He said.

"Cool." Ricki said with a yawn.

"Yeah, she was neat."

"Susan?" Ricki couldn't believe her ears.

"Well, yeah. She liked to talk about the music business and she was really interested in it and stuff." He said.

"Oh...neat." Ricki said, rolling onto her back.

They were silent for a few moments when Zac spoke. "Say maybe sometime we could all go on a double date." He suggested.

"Why?" Ricki asked.

"Well, I think you two would get along. It would be fun." Zac insisted.

Ricki snorted. "Zac, I don't think so."

"Why?" He asked. "Susan is really nice."

"I've met her." Ricki said.

"But you don't know her. She was really fun to talk to, and she's hot." Zac said.

"Oh well then I was wrong." Ricki said sarcastically.

"Oh, just one date."

"Okay Mr. Smarty pants, who would I go with?"

"Uh...I'm sure I could set you up with one of my friends."

"Sounds appealing." She said flatly.

Then next night, Ricki was bent over her Literature book when Zac rushed in.

"You're in a hurry. Someplace to go?" She asked.

"Yeah. Susan."

"Another date already? Two in two days. That must be some kind of record." She commented. She watched as Zac stripped off his t-shirt and put on a nicer shirt.

She wrinkled her nose at him. "What?" He asked, seeing her face.

"What were you doing before you came in here?"

"Playing basketball." He said.

"Oh." She said.

"What?"

"You're not even going to shower?"

"Well...I don't smell that bad...do I?"

"Gross." She said, making another face.

"Susan's cool...she wont' care. Plus, I used deodorant." He grinned.

Ricki rolled her eyes. Maybe there wasn't any hope for Zac Hanson.

On Monday, Ricki was walking down the hall to her math clas when somone stepped out in front of her.

"Hi." Ricki said.

"Hi." Susan said sweetly.

"What's up?" Ricki asked, still confused to as why this girl would be talking to her.

"Oh, not much..." Susan said casually, falling in step with Ricki.

"Oh..." Ricki said, not knowing what to say. She barely even knew this girl.

"Well I went out with Zac last weekend."

"Oh yeah, I heard." Ricki said casually. Why was this girl talking to her?

"Well, we had a great time. He talked about you a lot though." Susan said.

"Oh he did?" Ricki asked in surprise. She was puzzled as to why he would be talking about her, but secretly flattered.

"Yes, he did. Look, I'll get to the point. Last weekend you said you weren't interested in him, right?"

Ricki stopped walking. She knew there had been a point to all of this.

"Yeah, i did." She said, growing more and more irritated.

"Well then stay away from him. I know what you're trying to pull." Susan said, her eyes narrowing.

"Excuse me?" Ricki asked her in disbelief.

"I like him, and I will not have him taken away by some ordinary bimbo like you. He's a rock star, and he deserves someone special." She said haughtily.

"I do not like Zac, and if I did, I certainly wouldnt' ask for your approval to date him." Ricki said, pushing past Susan. She hurried into her classroom and didnt' let out her breath until she was safely in her seat.
