"I don't see what the big deal is. I mean, if I were living with Zac Hanson, I would learn to deal with it." Mary Anne said with a laugh.
"No no." Ricki said, stepping out of the elevator. "That's what you don't get. He is absolutely insufferable. I literally can't stand to be in the same room with him."
"Well, it looks like you're going to have to deal with it, at least until the end of the semester." Mary Anne said.
"Yeah, unfortunately." Ricki muttered, unlocking the door. She cringed as she heard the loud music coming from inside. It was two weeks later, and the two girls were coming home from a study group.
Ricki threw open the door, and sure enough, the room was a mess. Clothes were strewn all over the floor, cds and magazines were scattered around, the the pile of dirty clothes near the bathroom doow was growing dangerously near waist height.
Mary Anne's mouth dropped open at the sight.
"I told you." Ricki shouted over the music. She went over to the stereo and turned the volume way down, then looked around the room for Zac.
"Zac?" She called out.
She heard a noise in the bathroom, and she went over to investigate.
"What?" Zac asked, coming out.
"What's going on?" Ricki asked, seeing another boy poke his head out.
"Nothing." Zac said nonchalantly. Ricki noticed he was dressed in only boxers.
"Zac!"
"What?" he asked.
"What's going on?" She demanded, opening the door farther. She gasped when she saw the mess. Broken balloons and bottles of shaving cream lined the floor, and when she looked in the shower, it was filled and near overflowing with water balloons, as was the sink.
"Oh my god." She said.
"Isn't it cool? My buddy Jason here showed me a little trick." Zac said, opening the bathroom window wider.
"What are you talking about?" Ricki asked, looking around the bathroom.
"Well, our original plan was to drop only water balloons and make a mess. Then Jason told me that when you blow up the balloons, fill them half with water and the other half with shaving cream, they make an even bigger mess." Zac said proudly as Jason threw one out the window. She few shrieks followed.
Mary Anne burst out laughing. "I can't handle this." Ricki said, walking out of the bathroom.
"You like the idea?" Zac asked.
"I think it's great." Mary Anne cooed, batting her eyelashes.
"The girls all think it's great." Jason said, dropping another out the window.
"Yeah, well I know I do." Mary Anne said, smiling at the two shirtless boys.
"Do you wanna try?" Jason offered, handing her one.
"Oh....Sure." Mary Anne said, accepting the balloon.
She stuck her arm out the window, waited for a few people to walk near, then let it drop. She let out a squeal of glee as the people shouted up at her.
Zac saw that he was merely in the way, so he vacated the bathroom in search of Ricki.
Ricki sat down on her bed, pulling out a book. What were they thinking? She couldn't have thought of a more stupid and useless thing to do if she had tried.
A few minutes after opening her book, Zac flopped onto the bed beside her, a tootsie pop sticking out of his mouth. That boy always has candy...he'll rot his teeth...
"Hi." He said.
"Hi." She replied flatly.
"Are you mad?"
"No. Why would I be?" She asked, not taking her eyes from the book.
"Well you didn't look too happy about it."
"I'm fine with it."
"I'll clean up the mess, I swear." He said.
"Good." She replied, turning the page. The laughter coming from the bathroom caused her to raise her eyes to look at the two dropping the balloons.
"Are they gonna get in trouble for that?" She asked.
"Nah. It's cool."
"How do you know?"
"Ricki, sheesh. Calm down. Have a little fun." Zac said. "No one's gonna tell. We're just having fun."
"I guess." She said, silently reminding herself to chill out.
"Go try one." He said.
"Zac..."
"Come on." He said, getting up. He grabbed her arms and pulled her up off the bed. He dragged her to the bathroom, and handed her a balloon.
"Try it, Ricki, it's great!" Mary Anne sqealed, dropping another. She and Jason exploded into laughter as it hit the pavement, shattering.
"Okay, okay." She said, sticking her arm out the window. She waited for a man to walk under, then dropped it; square on the top of his head. It shattered, leaving him, we and wondering what hit him.
The bathroom exploded into laughter. "All right Ricki!" Zac hollered, smacking her a high five. Before Ricki knew it, she was laughing right along, forgetting about being serious. Today, she would just have fun.
