“...And I live two doors down. Oh my gosh, this will be soooo cool!” Mary Anne shrieked.
“Yeah.” Ricki said.
“Oh, come on, aren’t you excited?”
“Yeah...just...nervous.” Ricki admitted.
“College is going to be so much fun! I just know we’re going to have a blast!” Mary Anne said.
“I’ll bet.” Ricki said under her breath. She reached in the pocket of her jean overalls and pulled out the key to the dorm room she would be sharing at Kansas State University.
“Oh, you just wait right there, this is a Kodak moment!” Mary Anne said. “I’ll be right back, I left my camera on my bed, just hold it!” With that, she scurried down the hall.
“Okay.” Ricki said, throwing down her two duffel bags.
She stood outside the door to her new dormroom while Mary Anne ran to get her camera. She watched nervously as different people walked down the hall, all of them looking like they had somewhere to go. She hadn’t expected college to be this....scary. Ricki brushed her shoulder length blonde hair out of her green eyes, then leaned against the doorframe.
“What are you doing, Mary Anne?” She asked herself. She and Mary Ann had been friends from church since Ricki was about fourteen. Her parents had moved around a lot, so she had been glad to come to college, where she wouldn’t have to move for four years.
Mary Anne was short with dark brown hair that reached her chin. She was loud and sometimes obnoxious, and she talked with a thick southern accent, being from Alabama. Ricki was taller with shoulder length blonde hair and green eyes, and was somewhat more shy.
“This is rediculous.” She said, pulling out her keys. She opened the door, dropping her bags on the floor. She looked around the small room, and her eyes fell on the bed, where a topless girl with blonde hair lay, reading a magazine.
“Uh, excuse me?” Ricki said.
“What?” The girl asked. She had brown eyes and shoulder length blonde hair, along with a deep voice. To Ricki’s shock, it wasn’t a topless girl. It was a topless boy. And boy was he EVER a boy.
“Uh...I must have the wrong room.” Ricki said.
“I guess.” he said, flashing her a smile.
“Ricki, I told you to stay right-...”Mary Anne stopped in the doorway.
“Hello....” She cooed.
“Uh, hi.” The boy said, standing up.
Ricki and Mary Ann both gasped at the same time. Not only was this boy standing in front of them shirtless, but this boy also a rock star.
“Zac.” He said, outstreching his hand. He was tall, with brown eyes, wearing jeans, no shoes, and of course, no shirt.
Both of the girls stood for a moment, before Mary Ann shook his hand.
“Mary Ann. Nice to meet you.”
“Cool.” He said, giving her a smile. He looked at Ricki. “And you are?”
“Ricki.” She said, shaking his hand. “Your, uh, roomate.”
“There must be some mistake.” Mary Ann said, taking Ricki’s assignment card. “You couldn’t be rooming with Zac. Hanson.” She finished.
“That’s me.” Zac said, giving her a wave.
“I know.” Mary Ann gigled, getting giddy.
Ricci looked down at her card.
“Um, this says room 238...” She said. Ricki walked over to the door and looked at it. “I”m in the right room.”
“That’s what mine says too.” Zac said.
“um..” Ricki was at a loss for words. Well what would you say?
“Let’s go down to the office and get this checked out.” Mary Anne said.
“Okay.” Zac said, walking out of the room.
“Oh my god.” Mary Ann said slowly.
“I can’t believe this.” Ricki said.
“Zac Hanson.”
“I know.”
“Are you guys coming?” Zac asked, poking his head around the corner.
“You’re going like that?” Ricki asked.
“Yeah.” Zac said.
“Oh.”
“Fine.” He mock sighed, then grabbed a t-shirt off his bed and pulled it on. He slipped on some old Doc Martens, then shooed them out the door.
“So what are you doing in college?” Ricki asked.
“I’m eighteen, i’m young, i’m stupid, so I thought, hey, what else have I got to do?”
“Well-” Mary Ann started.
“don’t answer that.”
“Okay.”
