There was an awkward silence between them for a few moments as they stood in the snow, still only inches apart.
"I.....well....I've wanted to do that a long time." Zac admitted.
Quinn looked up at him. "You have?"
Zac smiled nervously. "Well....yeah."
He watched her face for a sign of disgust, but none came. Instead she smiled. "I have too."
"You....Y-you have?" He stuttered.
Quinn laughed and looked at him. "Well....yeah."
"I.....didn't know that." He said. "I mean, maybe....I would have done it sooner."
Quinn smiled. "Zac, I've wanted you to do that for five years." She said with a laugh.
They both laughed, and when they stopped, Zac spoke. "Well...that's another thing we need to talk about. Um....A few nights after you left.....I....read....a little of your journal."
Quinn's eyes widened in surprise. "You did?"
Zac winced. "Yeah....I didn't know it was going to be that....juicy."
She covered her mouth with her hands. "Oh my gosh."
"What? Was I not supposed to?"
Quinn was silent for a moment. "I feel so stupid."
"No, don't." Zac said.
"You read that? I must have sounded so....so silly and dumb...." She turned around so that she was no longer facing him. "Oh my gosh. I'm so embarassed." She said.
"Why?" He asked.
"Oh...just..." Quinn sniffed. Is she crying? Zac wondered. She wiped her eyes. "I would have told you....but you were always so busy with someone else....and then I had to leave.....and it hurt so bad."
Zac felt his heart break. How could he have so unknowingly hurt someone so utterly important to him? He laid a hand on her shoulder and turned her around. "I didn't know."
Quinn looked up at him. "I should have told you."
"And I should have noticed."
Quinn looked at him and they fell into a tight embrace in the middle of the snowy yard.
