"Hey." Taylor said to Isaac later on in the evening.
"Hey." Isaac said. He was mindlessly strumming his guitar in the old Hanson garage.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing." Isaac said. He really didn't feel like getting into it.
"Angela?" Taylor guessed.
Isaac smiled weakly and looked up at Taylor, sensing it was helpless.
"Yeah." He said, setting the old guitar down.
"What's the problem now?" He asked.
"Oh...Alan is getting really suspicious as to why Angela won't sleep with him." Isaac said.
"Oh." Taylor said. He knew that Angela was a virgin and wanted to wait until she was married to have sex, and by the sound of things, Alan wasn't that interested in waiting.
"She told me Alan's getting antsy." Isaac said, leaning his head back on the couch.
"Yeah." Taylor said. "What's she gonna do?"
"She doesnt' know. I'm in hell, Tay. I can't see her because her parents are always around. Alan's getting suspicous, she's getting nervous, and I'm getting more and more frusterated."
"Why's that?"
"Because it makes me so mad. The fact that Alan wants her to just go along with him. All he wants to marry her for is her money. SHe says they never even really talk. He talks, she listens. That's not a relationship, Tay."
"I agree."
"And meanwhile, he just wants her to fuck his brains out."
"Gosh."
""That's all he wants, she told me. I get scared, and I worry. Her parents, I know them. They want it to happen. It would just be another excuse for them to be together. They wouldn't stop it or anything."
"The marraige?"
"Yeah." Isaac sighed. "I mean, you've seen Angela. I know he's going to traumatize her one of these days. She's so young and innocent....all I want to do is be able to protect her from that...and from everything."
"I'm sorry Ike." Taylor said. He didn't really know how to comfort his brother.
"You just don't know how heartwrenching it is to not be able to just see her or hear her voice anytime I want." Isaac said. "I haven't seen her in three days. I love her so much, and it hurts so bad." Isaac said, running a hand through his hair. "And I'm scared as hell that Alan's going to really hurt her, you know? You don't know what it's like to want to save her from having to deal with that. Tay, I love her so much, and the fact that I can't be with her and protect her from all that I can is just too much." Isaac said.
"It's just that...I've been saving myself for the woman that I love...and now that I've finally found her, I couldn't be happier. It would be such a waste if Alan gets to her before I do. I mean, when I think of all the time that there were the beautiful girls just ready and waiting anytime for me. It would have been so easy, Tay. So easy." Isaac said.
"I understand." Taylor said.
"But when I met Angela, and she told me that she was saving herself too, then, I knew it wasn't a waste. I knew that she was the one for me. I knew that what we were going to share was special." He said. "It just hurts so much."
Taylor didn't know what do say. Because he didn't know what his brother was going through, and for the first time in his life, he wouldn't be able to help him.
