A twenty one-year-old Taylor Hanson sqinted in the late October sun as he walked from the plane into the airport. His two brothers, ninteen year old Zac and Twenty three year old Isaac, followed suite. They entered the airport through the small doors, and Taylor scanned the lounge near the terminal. She wasn't there again.
"Damn, Shirley." He muttered He turned around to look at his brothers.
"Sorry guys."
"That's okay, we'll just call Dad."
"No, she'll be here. Can I use your cell? Mine's all out of batteries." Taylor asked his older brother.
Isaac sighed heavily and handed his brother his phone. Taylor took it and dialed his girlfriend's number. She picked up, for once in a lifetime.
"Hello?" She asked, almost sounding bored.
"Um, HI." Taylor said, raising his voice.
"Oh hi Taylor." She said flatly.
"Glad to hear from you too. Seeing as how I DIDN'T the last month and all." Taylor said, his voice dripping with sarcasam.
"A month? Has it been that long already?" She asked.
"Yeah, believe it or not. Did you forget about something?" He asked.
"Um...lemme think...."
"SHIRLEY!"
"What?" She asked nonchalantly. Isaac looked up from his chair. He and Zac were tired, being a five am flight. The sun had just risen in Tulsa as they arrived home. Taylor's face was red and people were beggining to stare.
"You were supposed to pick us up today!" he said.
"I was?'
"Yes." he answered. Why did she have to be like this?
"Oh yeah, i was. Now?"
"Yes, now, is that too much to ask."
"Sorry." She said. Taylor gave her the terminal number before hanging up. It would take her at least another hour to get out of bed, and get to the airport. The three brothers reluctantly drug themselves to the lower level of the Tulsa airport and to the baggage claim.
"I'm so tired. I just want to go home and sleep." Isaac said.
"Dude, it was only a three hour time change from LA." Taylor joked. They had just finished recording their seventh album.
"Shut up." His older said, shooting him a dirty look.
"Ouch..." Taylor shot back, grabbing one of their bags.
"Guys, knock it off." Zac said with a yawn. "besides, you're just in a pissy mood cuz your girlfriend hates you." He added with a chuckle.
"She does not hate me." Taylor said, rolling his eyes.
Zac and Isaac glanced at each other and started to smile.
Taylor shrugged. "Okay, so maybe she does, but still..."
"Why do you embarrass yourself this much?" Zac asked. He still didn't understand why relationships were so torturous.
"yeah....why do you keep going back for more?" Isaac asked.
Taylor raised his eybrows. "Shouldnt' I be asking you the same question?"
Isaac cleared his throat, and Taylor looked behind him. Walking up was a tired looking Shirley. She was in jeans and a sweatshirt, and her red, curly hair was down and loose, flying around. She didn't wear any makeup at that particular hour in the morning; but that was just Shirley. Taylor dropped his bags that adorned his arms as she walked up. Zac and Isaac watched ten feet away with mouths open as Shirley walked up to Taylor and her hand went behind his head to pull him down into the biggest, longest, open mouthed kiss either of them had ever seen. Taylor returned the kiss and wrapped his arms around Shirley, pulling her closer to him. No words were spoken, there was no explanation, just the two of them and one big kiss.
The pair finally broke apart, and Shirley eyed the other two. "Sorry guys." She said after a moment. "If I knew you were here too, I wouldnt' have taken so long."
Taylor rolled his eyes and picked up his bags. Isaac and Zac just looked at each other and shrugged.
