Taylor put the phone down. He had just pored his guts out on her answering machine. He had to admit to himself that even that was a little drastic. He hoped Nadine would get ahold of him. he was leaving the day after tomorrow, and would be gone for weeks.

He didn't know Nadine well enough to tell if she would say anything to him. He had almost gone to the hotel to wait for her that morning, but he opted to send her flowers instead. he wanted so see her badly, but he didn't want to upset her anymore.

He sat back on the couch in his living room, watching the rain drizzle down the windows. The wearther reflected his mood perfectly. What would he tell his mother? What would she say? He knew his mother liked Nadine, and he would be shot and hung when she found out. She had called earlier that morning and left a message on taylor's machine. She hadn't said what about, but Taylor didn't feel like calling her back just yet.

Taylor absentmindedly fumbled with the strings on the pants he had worn to bed the night before. He was too depressed to even shower and change his clothes. He had stayed in his pants and a t-shirt, with no socks or shoes. He hadn't even brushed his hair. He was just thinking of getting up and getting cleaned up when his doorbell rang.

He jumped up, thinking quickly. Could it be her?

Nadine listened to the message four times before deciding what she had to do. Taylor was changed, and she knew it. The last things she saw before racing out the door were the pink and yellow tulips he hand sent her that morning. The next thing she knew, she was ringing the doorbell to his house.

Taylor lived down a street with surprisingly small houses, and his was a grey, one story house near the end of the street. She stood there, waiting for him to come to the door in the rain.

When he finally opened it, he stood in the doorway, not knowing what to say.

"I thought you wanted to see me." She said, shifting uncomfortably in her shoes.

Taylor stepped forward onto the porch and embraced her. "I'm sorry." He said into her hair. "I'm so sorry."

She hugged him back, not knowing what to say. It seemed to her that in less than a week, her life had changed so much. She hadn't even known Taylor a week ago, and now she knew that she couldn't live without him. He needed her, and she needed him. She found it very overwhelming and unbelieveable as they stood in front of his porch, the rain falling on them. It was all so fast, so sudden, as if it happened in a second. A split second.
