"Taylor, i'm not going to lie to your family." Nadine said, crossing her arms.

"Well you don't have to lie."

"What?"

"You don't have to lie." he said.

"Then what do you want me to do?" She asked.

"Just...fib." he said.

"Okay...."

"Like, tell them you work at a hotel, but don't tell them what you do." He said.

"I guess." She said reluctantly.

"You can do it, i know you can." He said, taking her hand and squeezing it.

"I know i can, I just don't know if i want to." She said, pulling it away. She folded her arms and looked out the window.

A few seconds later, the limo pulled up to the beatiful river front, and then stepped out. Nadine felt her stomach drop to her feet when she saw all of the people, dressed so elegantly. She then remembered that she was dressed nicely too. She chewed her fingernail as she looked around and saw that people were starting to stare. She elbowed him.

"What?" He asked.

"How long have you been to these things without a date?"

"Why?"

"Because they're all looking at me funny."

"A few years, i guess." He said nonchalantly.

"Taylor!"

"What, what, it's no big deal. So they're looking at you." He said quietly.

She sighed, then adjusted her dress. She felt extremely out of place and uncomfortable. Do i stick out like a sore thumb? She asked herself. She sure wasn't dressed any differently.

"Come on." He said, offering her his arm.

She looked at him for a few seconds, them took it. This was going to be a long night.
