She opened the door and walked in. He turned around, then half smiled when he saw her.

“You wanted to see me?” She asked.

“Yeah.”

“You have five minutes.” She said.

“Nadine, just hear me out.” He said.

“I’m listening.”

Taylor sighed, then sat down on the couch.

“I didn’ mean to offend you when I asked you to that thing.” He said. “I just wanted your company so I wouldn’t have to go alone.” he said.

“Taylor, I know, but I dont’ have time to be getting involved with things like that.”

“Why not?” He asked, looking up at her.

“Why not?” She asked. “Because...look at me, Taylor.”

“I am.”

“I’m a maid that works in a hotel. I’ve never had a glamourus life, and I most likely never will.” She said.

“It’s just a date.”

“Yes, I know, but I can’t go getting mixed up with those kinds of things.” She said.

“Oh?”

“Yes. I have a job.”

“Nadine, that’s not what this is about.”

“Yes it is.” She argued.

“Just because you’re a maid doesn’t mean anything. Just go out with me. No big deal.” He said.

“Why, Taylor, why me?”

“Because.”

“Because why?”

“Because I don’t want to be alone anymore.”

“What?”

“Those other women...I dont’ know them. I don’t care for them and they don’t care for me, and it just makes it feel to pointless.” He said.

“You don’t care for me.” She said.

“Yes I do.” He said. “You helped me.” he said.

“I did my job.” She said.

“You did more than that. “

She sighed. He got up off the couch and walked over to her. He touched her arm. “Please?”

She knew that if she looked into his eyes that she would have to. His eyes pulled hers to his. They pleaded and begged for her to give in. She sighed again.

“I guess i’ll go.” She said reluctantly.

“It’s just one date.”

“Exactly.” She said. “It’s just one date.”
