"What's that?" She asked distractedly.

"Well, you see, my manager is getting tired of me attending parties by myself, you see, because i'm always mobbed." He said.

"Yeah...." She trailed off.

"Well, i was wondering if you would joing me tomorrow evening for a party thrown by Mercury Records tonight down at the lake front" He said.

"Um, I...Taylor, look, you seem to have misread me." She said. "I am a hotel maid. You hear that? A maid. I dont' go on dates with rock stars who get lonely." She said seriously, looking up at him.

"Nadine..." Taylor started.

"No, Taylor, i can't do that. Do you know what people would say if they found out? i would most likely be fired." She said, her eyes staring into his blue ones.

"They won't fire you for going out on one date with me." He said.

"I didn't know it was a date." She said.

"Well, sort of. I mean, we would dress up and go to a party. Isn't that sort of a date?" he asked.

"Well, i dont' think so." She said, although part of her longed to go and see what his fancy, exciting parties were like.

"Well please consider it. I really don't want to go with some snobby girl that my brothers picked out who is a perfect stranger." He said.

"You seem to have forgotten something, Taylor Hanson." She said, getting quiet.

"What?" He asked, getting discouraged.

"I met you only last night. And i helped you because i saw a scared boy who had never been that drunk or out of control before." She said. "I din't help you to start something. You seem to have forgotten that." With that, she grabbed the rest of her clothes, then stormed out of the room, closing the door with a slam.
