Zac went down the line, hugging each person goodbye. It was six thirty in the morning, and he was saying good bye to his family and Katie.

"Bye mom." He said. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."

"Just don't kill yourself. It's just a sport." She said.

Zac laughed. "Bye Tay."

"See ya man." Taylor said, giving his little brother a tight hug. "Have a great time."

Zac stopped when he got to Katie. "I'll write to you as much as I can, and I'll call you whenever I can." He said.

Katie didn't say anything as he hugged her tightly. She breathed in the scent of his t-shirt one last time for awhile as they hugged.

He turned to whisper in her ear. "I love you. I promise we'll do something special when I come back." he said softly.

"I love you too." She whispered back. They broke aprart, and he sighed, re-adjusting his hat.

"You'll be fine." She said. "Have an awesome time, I know you will."

"Thanks Kate." he said. He kissed her one last time on the cheek, not wanting to get too personal with his entire family watching.

He took one last look at her blonde hair, blue eyes, and warm smile before he got into the truck where his Dad was waiting.

"Bye everybody. Enjoy the peace and quiet!" He said.

Everyone laughed as the truck pulled away. As soon as the truck pulled away though, her smiled faded. Zac was gone.
