"Morgan, I need to talk to you." Morgan looked at Katie in the mirror. They were getting reading for school on Monday morning.
"What?" She asked, brushing on some eyeshadow.
"I've been getting calls lately."
"Calls?" Morgan frowned. "What kind of calls?" She asked.
"Prank calls." Katie said. "Well, sort of."
"How do you mean?" She asked, rummaging in the basket of makeup that sat on the counter near their sink.
"I'll pick up the phone, and no one will be there. I usually just hang up."
"Do you know who it is?" Morgan asked.
"No, of course not." Katie said, picking up a can of hair spray. She shook it and sprayed a few squirts on her curly hair.
"Let me re-phrase that; Do you have any ideas to who it might be?"
"Well....no." Katie said.
Morgan frowned as she applied her mascara. "Are you sure it's just not Zac being stupid?"
"I know it's not. He's been here when I get the calls. Besides, it makes him really mad." Katie said.
"Oh." Morgan said.
"I really don't like it. I'm getting really scared." Katie said, looking at her sister in the mirrow.
"Oh, you're making something out of nothing. Besides, how do you even know they're calling for you?"
"Becuse twice when i didn't pick up the phone, someone asked for me, and both times Madison said it was a boy."
"oh." Morgan said. She suddenly smiled at Katie. "I'll be you have a secret admirerer." She said with a grin.
Katie rolled her eyes. "I don't think so. Besides, everyone knows that i'm with Zac." She said, crossing her arms.
"That's just it." Morgan said, applying her lip gloss.
"What?" Katie was confused.
"You have a boyfriend. So obviously, this guy doesn't want you to know that he likes you. So he's just calling you, and every time he looses his nerve." Morgan said. "I'll bet he's obsessed with you. Follows you around secretly, takes pictures of you..."
"Morgan." Katie smiled. "You're just trying to creep me out."
Morgan laugh and went into her room to get her bookbag.
"And it's working." She said, nudging Katie out the door.
It creeped me out before I talk to you, Katie thought.
Katie shoved her morning books into her bookbag and closed her locker. She saw Jeremy at his locker, and he looked sad, as usual, Katie noticed. It couldn't hurt to be nice, she thought to herself.
"Hi Jeremy." She said.
He looked up, surprised. "Oh, hi Katie." he said.
Katie stood by his locker awkwardly for a moment, not really sure of what to say. "So how's your biology project coming?" She asked.
"I'm done." He said.
"Oh." Katie said. She spotted Zac down at his locker, pulling out some books. Great, she thought. An excuse to leave.
"Hi Katie." A voice said. Katie turned around to see a boy named Brian at his locker. Katie didn't really know him since he was a sophomore, but his locker was on the other side of hers. She had been told that he was a player, and he looked it too. He was cute, even Katie had to admit, but there was something about him...
The three stood in silence for a few moments before both of the boys spoke at once.
"Have you started your Enlish project?" Jeremy asked.
"When are you gonna let me take you out?" They spoke at the same time. Katie was trapped.
She looked at the two of them. Jeremy stared and Brian winked. She was caught with the weirdo and well...the wierdo. She looked at Zac, down the hall, still at his locker, silently begging him to get down to her locker.
"Um, No." She said looking at Jeremy. "And never." She said to Brian.
"Um, I have to go. I'll see you later, okay?" She said, starting in the direction of Zac's locker.
"Bye." Jeremy said.
"I'll call you later." Brian said.
"Uh...yeah." Katie quickly walked down the hall, not stopping until she was with Zac.
