Katie paced around her room. She knew she needed to look special; it was his birthday, after all. It was just a few minutes before she had to leave to go to Zac's fifteenth birthday party. She stared into her closet, finally yanking out a sweater. Like five other outfits, she soon threw the sweater on the floor.
Katie's life was finally back to normal. Carole had a restraining order and thousands of dollars of fines to pay for child abuse, and Katie knew they would never see her again. Judy had been re-hired, and Kirsten and Ben had been brought back. Judy now had full custody of the children, and Katie was glad. Judy had become her friend, a companion, and ALMOST a mother figure. Almost.
"My gosh, it's hot in here." She said, flinging her window open. Being October 21st, it was fairly chilly outside, and the cold air was welcomed in her hot room. It was nearly seven thirty, and Zac's party started at seven thirty, and she had gotten out of the shower half an hour ago, yet she still hadn't decide what to wear.
"I sat around all day!" SHe said to herself. She was encredible nervous, and she was sweating for some reason. She had on pants. SHe was able to decide that. So far Katie had on Leather boots, dark blue jeans, and was walking around her room in her bra, but she had no clue what shirt to wear. Bright? No, she looked terrible in florals. Something dark? Yes, something dark. SHe looked in her closet. Half the stuff she had was black.
"Shit!" She exclaimed, sitting down on her bed.
"What's the problem?" Morgan asked, walking in.
"Help me!" Katie said, walking over to her older sister.
"Okay, Okay, relax. Why do you have that window open?" She asked, walking over to it and closing it.
"I don't know." Katie said, her face red from frusteration.
"Whoa, you're all sweaty. Katie, calm down." Morgan said.
"I just, I'm so nervous!" She said.
"Why, it's just his birthday party." Mogan said, putting her hands on her little sister's shoulders.
"I know, it's not that." She said.
"What is it?"
"I....i don't know." She said.
"Tell me."
"I'm going to be soooo late...." Katie said, getting up again.
"Here, just wear this." Morgan said, handing her a shirt.
Katie inspected it. "It doesn't show enough." She said.
"What?"
"It doesn't show enough." She said, nearly shrieking.
"Katie, you half to calm down." Morgan said.
"What?" She exclaimed, still shaking.
"Are you okay?" She asked. "What's this all about?"
"I'm okay." Katie said, sitting down on her bed, taking deep breaths.
"Are you sure? "
Katie nodded.
"Now, what's your problem?" She asked.
"I want Zac to think I'm sexy." SHe said.
"What?"
"Well, lately, I really am attracted to him, like, more than usual." She said.
"Oh." Morgan said, nodding her head. "That's normal."
"I want to do more than just kiss." She said.
"What, like, fooling around?" Morgan asked.
"Yeah, but I'm not sure Zac wants to." She said.
"Well, if he's a normal, curious, teenage boy, he'll want to do more. You just have to take it slow and not rush." Morgan said.
"Well, sometimes things go sort of far, but I want to stop, and I'm not sure why." She said.
"Just do what you feel comfortable with." Morgan said.
"I know, it's just that I dont' want to confuse him." Katie said.
"Well, what happened?"
"Two days ago we were in his room alone, and we started kissing, and I was laying down on the bed, and he was sort of on top of me, and I just...I don't know." Katie said.
"Honey, go with what you feel comfortable with. Don't let him push you into anything." Morgan said.
"Okay."
"Zac is cool, he'll understand."
"I know, I've been meaning to talk to him about it."
"Oh you have?"
"Yeah, I just don't know how."
"Just casually bring it up sometime."
"Okay." Katie said. She wasn't really sure how do this, but she wasn't about to question Morgan now. She was late for Zac's party. She got up and went to her closet, finally picking out a black, -v neck, long sleeved shirt. She threw it on and turned around to her sister.
"What do you think?"
"Whoa, a little revealing, don't you think?" Morgan said.
Katie looked down. She usually wore a white shirt underneath just in case, but not tonight.
"No." She said simply. "I want to keep Zac happy."
"Why wouldn't he be happy?" Morgan asked.
"I don't know." katie said.
"Does he act differently?"
"No." Katie said slowly.
"Then why would you think such a thing?"
"I don't know, I just want to keep him happy." Katie said. The past few weeks she had become nearly narotic worring about Zac, her grades, and her reputaion at school.
"It's just that, all these girls look at Zac, and I just...."
"Want him all to yourself." Morgan finished.
Katie looked at her. It sounded so selfish the way she said it. "Well, yeah." She said.
"Honey, Zac is a great guy, and I think you two go together so well. If he's any kind of guy, he wont' look at other girls." Morgan said. "And if he does, he's not worth it. But I'm telling you, those Hanson boys sure are something." Morgan said of Taylor.
"I know." Katie said.
"Just don't worry about it tonight." She said.
"I'll try." Katie said.
"Kate, we gotta get going." Morgan said, opening the door. "meet me down in the driveway." She said.
"Okay." katie said, putting some last touches on her makeup. She went over to her dresser and picked up her purse. Suddenly her eyes caught the picture on her dresser of her and Zac at the Homecoming dance. She smiled when she thought of it. THat night had been so perfect. Zac had given her a red rose when he asked her, even though he knew she would say yes. Taylor drove them to dinner at a nice Italian restaurant, and then to the dance and a party afterwards. The night had been wonderful, and surely something Katie would never forget.
He stood behind her in the picture, his arms around her waist. He was dressed very hansomly, and leaning down next to her, and katie had been laughing when the picture was taken. They both thought it was a halarious picture, and she had had it framed the day she got it back.
She took her curly blonde hair out of the clips she had it in. It was now a little past her shoulders, and still very curly. She tried to get it to calm down a little with some gel, then finished her makeup. She walked downstairs, and out the door to Morgan's car.
